First time out of the vault
Is fallout 2 better than Fallout Tactics :?: Because i have an amdk6 2 500 mhz and FOT goes really slow.

i just wanna know how is Fallout 2.

Saludos a todos ....

They can´t really be compared since they´re of different genre - FO2 is a deep RPG, FOT concentrates on combat.

So whatever you prefer.

I´d pick FO2 tho, and it runs better on older computers.

In terms of relevance to Fallout, Fallout 2 scrapes by despite bugs and a shitload of easter eggs, inconsistencies, and design that might have been good but didn't belong. FOT doesn't even begin to have a list of faults that short.

You should go with FO2!
FOT is combat focused game, but FO2 is more of an RPG than FOT ever will be.
Go with FO2, I'd do it.
And besides, as already mentioned, FO2 runs better on old computers than FOT!

I think his concern were system specs.

In that case, too, Fallout 2 should work a lot better.

I've heard about both, Fallout 2 and Fallout: Tactics, having incredibly many bugs, but I personally never had problems with either after the official patches (however I admit that Fallout 2 without patch can be quite a painful experience).

Craptics sucks ass for a Fallout game, plus all the bugs and random crashes.

And I have the patch too, so it isnt that.

funny, nobody mentioned Fallout 1..? now THAT's the game you should go with...you should definatly play fallout 1 first, THEN fallout 2, tictacs is a somewhat good game, but you shouldn't think it's fallout :)

Maybe because it's not related to the question whether Fallout 2 or FOT is more system resource friendly?

Well, if it was a resource question, then it's pretty damn simple.

Take a look at the specs. Which one takes more?

Well, if FOT runs like ass when you're just above the min specs to get it to work (if it decides to, and doesn't run like ass afterwards) and Fo2 requires less, then there's a good chance that it might run better than FOT. Checking the release dates or the system specs on sites shouldn't be that hard to do. After all, we DO have pages for both Fallout and Fallout 2 here with the system specs. 90MHz <<< 300MHz.

I would have to agree that Fallout 1 should be tried first before Fallout 2, especially since they tried FOT first and then are looking at Fo2. If they can get Fo1 to run without any problems, then there's a good chance that they'll only have to deal with the unpatched problems still in Fallout 2 when they try that game. In addition, they'll understand the backstory a bit better. Besides, if they find the dual-jewel set, then they should play Fallout 1 first anyways. :)
