Ascorti insists mine is not cleared.

Question

First time out of the vault
Ive killed -every- wanamingo in both levels 1 and 2 of the wanamingo mine.

Ascorti however insists that the mine is not cleared.

Ive quadrple checked both levels.Even with motion sensor. There are NO wanamingos in the mine! What gives?

Patch 1.02 btw.

Hint: there are some tunnels adjoining the upper level of the mine.

Yea but they dont count as they arent actually part of the mine.At least its not supposed to be that way.I killed the 2 wanamingos that were in the cave section accesible via the open grave/mining camp well, didnt work either.

For that record this is the first time this has happened.I used to be able to just kill the wanamingos, and thats it.For some reason the variables now seem to be FUBARed though.

It is. There are 4 of them not in the actual mine; you have to kill 3 of them assuming you killed all of those in the mine.

Its not suposed to be that way? Seriously? Or you just think? I always jsut killed me all and thought nothing of it...

Kinda wished there was more underground after... like miners ACTUALY mining down ther once you fix their little "problem". Mabey a shp and a small diner down there becaulse its FREKIN HUGE down there and it wouldnt really be that big of a streatch.

Yes it is....
A diner ??? what would the health inspector say to that...

Edit: Spelling... Thanks Wooz

Shrug, well the quest says to kill all the wanamingos in the mine, and that area cant really be counted as part of the mine.

Oh....and how about the mine in Broken Hills? It's not even on an underground level.

And, looking at the town map, the Morton's turf, is clearly labelled as "Great Wanamingo Mine".

ah....sorry for my first post, well that's ,hmm, pointless...really. I'm going to fix my view.

so don't you consider the tunnel part of a mine?

Well it seemed fairly straight forward to me.The wanamingo mine's 2 levels, both of them in a seperate world map location(Geographically speaking) compared to the "tunnels".You can either access it from the frog morton area with the elevator, which brings you straight to the bottom level of the mine,or get to level 1 of the mine by using the tunnels from beneath hte mining camp and going west till you hit the wanamingo mine.

I always figured the wanamingos in the tunnels as having "wandered over" from the mine itself.

You could see it like this: as long as there are wanamingos left in the tunnels, they can repopulate the mine at the drop of a hat.

Not really.

They do live a long time, but they were dying out at the time of Fallout 2.

The eggs you see in Fallout 2 are the last generation of Wannamingoes to exist in the wasteland; the young Wannamingoes seen in F2 will perish in five years, and their parents a few years before that - an internal genetic clock will simply stop ticking, and they'll fall over dead.

Read the Fallout guides before you make a noobish remark like that, Per.

Well, I didn't actually say anything about populating it with eggs. The miners could probably kick the eggs if necessary. To start off with they could repopulate it with themselves.

Also, what does MCA know about the future of Fallout? I mean, really?

Well, 3 years after this discussion i may have an solution that worked for me.

Thing is, i had the same problem as thread creator above, so i checked the forums here for any information and found this topic.

Regardless the discussion what belongs to the area or not (i wiped out the whole underground, and checked a dozen times), i finally found out, that all you have to do is finishing the mining chip quest before telling the major u cleaned the tunnels of the wanamingos.

I decided to give the Chip to Marge LeBarge, after that the major at last accepted the mine was clear, so i could sell him the proposition back.

This shit really made my hair become grey, im kind of a perfectionist and not being able to finish this damn quest was not an option. Perhaps at any time this spares someone running through the shitty tunnels, figuring out wtf is wrong for countless hours, as i did.

Greetings
Dre

Thanks, Dre. This was driving me nuts. It seems you have to sell the chip before even attempting to talk to Ascorti.

P.S. Yes, I registered just to post this.
