Ashes of Apocalypse Wraps Up Design for v1.2

Still to much Star Wars. Taking away the light from the saber just doesn't work that way.

This mod is going to be so good when its done. I have confidence it will get done to since these guys seem like professionals and not just some kid who gets 4 people together and doesn't tell them what they should be working on. I'm almost certain this mod won't die out before its at least very playable.

Heh.

I wonder where you'd find enough weapon-grade steel in the wasteland to make a Claymore. And once you do, where you'd find a forge powerful enough to melt it into a sword, and a blacksmith able to do it.
Once you have the huge-ass sword, you'd have to find someone who knows how to wield the 40+kg thing properly.

Then, you'd have to think about what's the huge thing for in the first place, as you don't have to cleave enemy cavalry on it. By then, the swordsman wielding it would be dead a hundred times:

A) Slaughtered by a platoon of spearmen, whose weapons took less time and less materials to make, and whose weapons are ten times more
effective in that kind of melee combat.

B) Heat stroke trying to lift the goddamn thing.

C) Shot.

Well, a friend of mine had this sword made from a car suspension, so I always imagined PA swords to be somewhere along these lines. Of course, those would be more of blunt weapons, not more useful than a mere baseball bat.

Bwaahhahaha, that's so true.

Except for scarcity of ammunition.

Yeah, I always thought there should be more primitive makeshift weapons made from wasteland junk, and less conventional weapons. There should be lots of steel around, but weapons should probably not be forged.

Unless you happened to stumble into a ruined museum I doubt you'd be able to get your hands on a fully fledged sword, there just wouldn't be the expertise or the equipment left to make one. The most common weapon in a PA land would be simple items like steel pipes and clubs.

They may also want to work on those textures, they look horrible.

I still say the posters are far to clean. The whole thing has a good atmosphere, but then it's lost when you stumble across one of the little things (such as swords and blanantly pc-ed posters) that ruin the atmosphere, it just doesn't work at the moment, they need to clean out the gunk...

Wrong !
We were all wrong !

It's not a sword. It's a hammer. It's your average postapoc hammer. Don't get confused by some ... apparently random ... weapon name and that telegraph pole behind him!

:look:

See? it's from a block of iron, probably not even sharpened.

It still doesn't justify why the dude looks like a medieval version of Captain Gay.
