Assassination in Fallout 3

One of my favorite characters in Fallout 2 was an evil assassin character, with unarmed, melee, and thrown weapons skills. I felt that the assassination part of the game wasn't real good. You could kill someone in a dark alley or corner, walk out onto a street AFTER combat had ended, and get attacked. Also, it would have been nice if we could have concocted poisons and used all those empty hypos for some real mayhem, a nice quiet kill. Also I hear about Fallout 3 mabye being real time. Mabye instead of real time, it could adopt an X-com esque combat system. Turn-based, but you can't just walk around out of cover at will because if there are saved Action Points the character can shoot on its own. You could also mabye have the options to tell you NPC followers to lay down covering fire and the enemy NPCs would have to stay undercover or risk being killed by your helpers.

Basically all of the ideas you have not regarding assissination has already been said, in fact here recently, and probably even stated quite a while ago in previous posts. The idea of the quiet kill not causing attacks has been addressed as well, though Im not certain how long ago. The empty hypo/poison idea would take up a lot of space with empty hypos that would otherwise have no use. The poison brewing would have to be done with the proper facilities and big time science, unless you were just siphoning rad-scorpion poison. Taking a rad-scorpions poison gland out after death might not be a bad idea though with the proper outdoorsman- i.e. quest based perk-

I agree. I'd suggest Arcanum if you want to see how they've taken the system of Fallout a few steps further with "area of notice" and more.

I also agree about the inteerupts a la Jagged Alliance 2, althought that might be a squeak in the larger maps, with a check for every actor on the map to see about awareness of fight, opporotunity of fire, etc. Then again, if they have enough time to streamline and optimize it like how JA2 was done, could be well-achieved.

Radscorpion poison was a bit weak, but if compounded with a few other things or able to be put into something, could be a fun addition. There already is an assassination method which is completely silent, but that requires a few super-stims and a bit of waiting...
