Bald wanted - Player model looking like Cassidy

First time out of the vault
Hi all,

I am looking for a hack that will allow me to change the model of my character to the one of Cassidy (I like bald guys - no, not that way).
Something like that already exists?

Thanks for your efforts

well if you use cpt. corpse cheat tool you the change the appearance of yourself and your party. there would be some problems tho. when you go into your inventory you change back to your normal self. Also the cassidy model doesn't have all animations for the weapons so you would just disappear on the map if you use on of them.

You would have to edit the FRMs and 'paste' Casidy's head onto head of the armour types

Thats the more practical solution. Just a question, when you use that tactics graphics converter does it create all the animation that FRMs need?

Well to be difficult - Yes and No.

It does create most of them, but some need a bit of tweaking.

Gun Aniamtions - These need to be split into 3 separate FRMs. This is very easy and you just need to make three copies of the same FRM and then remove the uneeded frames.

1 Aiming the gun - suffix xH
2 Lowing the gun - suffix xI
3 Firing the gun Single - suffix xJ
4 Firing the gun Burst - suffix xK
5 Firing the gun Flame - suffix xL

The only FRMs that are really missing are the one for equiping/unequiping the guns, so I just made a copy of the 'use' animation and deleted all but 3 or 4 frames. This way when changing a gun the critter will at least move his hands a bit before the gun disapears. You can just have a single Frame for this if you want though, there must be a FRM otehr wise the critter can not change weapons.

Thank you all for the replies.

The original post was made in hopes that by chance someone had already done such a mod. After looking into frame editing a bit I now realize why not... oh well, was worth a try.

Well actually Corpse was working on a casidy variant a while back, you could try and conact him about it.

Plus, attempting to use a FRM that doesnt exist can crash the game.

I have never had a missing FRM crash the game. It should just stop the critter from carrying out that function rather than crash the game.

I don't think it stops the player from doing things. Thus the player can crash the engine by equipping a weapon the model doesn't have frames for.

never got a game crash from it. The critter just disapears of the screen

Use the invetory editor to give yourself a gun in the Temple of Trials.

The tribals dont react well to guns, and the lack of a FRM crashes it.

I recall the player disappearing if using the horrigan armor and a weapon the model doesn't support. I guess it's less or more coincidential.

:: Replacing Character Player Sprite with Alternate Sprite :

Hi all,

I've been an observer of NMA since the early days of the Fallout series. I've finally decided to start doing some modding for these awesome games--by trade I'm a graphic artist (3d and 2d modeling, animation, design, etc) so I thought hell I may as well try and familiarize myself with the internals of this game so I can one day make something worthwhile. I'm thinking of doing some graphical enhancements to start off, but for the time being I need to get my hands dirty in some basics, then go from there.

Anyway, to the point of this topic--I searched for this specifically but wasn't able to glean a direct answer and thought someone could clarify the solution for me:

I want to change the Player Character model/sprite in both Fallout 1 and Fallout 2. I want to use the sprite without hair (think Cassidy's model from Fallout 2).

Can someone instruct me on how to go about making this modification?

Basically I am planning on making an entirely new set of armor, but I want to use the "bald" head for this sprite because I just like it better aesthetically speaking.

Thanks for any info on this ;)

Hello X,

First of all, don't use stupid braces around your topic names,

Second of all, there's a very similar thread to yours, as if luck woudl have it, which is why I'm merging.

I was going to say there was a tutorial for this somewhere, but looks like lisac beat me to it :)

If you need any other help just let me know and I can try and step you through it.

Take a look at this thread http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=33600

Its about the FO2GUP project which is basicaly redoing some of the art for FO2.

If you are really keen to start modding you could always join us at the mutants rising mod, we are in need of some more artists right now, just PM me some of your work :)
