Bandaged...?

I have a guy that's bandaged, so I can't give him first aid. Stimpaks seem a bit pricey, so I'd like to avoid using them.... When does bandaged go away??

I'm not very happy with the manual. Over 25% of the 80-pages is credits/adverts/"notes" (does anyone EVER use the "notes" section of their manual?? I didn't think so). Would have been nice to see some more info on the stuff that's new to the Fallout world....

The "bandaged" status goes away after each mission (at least, as far as I can tell). I think you can use first aid twice per mission (possibly three times?). Also, I'm not positive, but I think that you can use the "Doctor" skill seperately from the First Aid skill.

And yes, the manual is pretty poor. All of the information in there (with the exception of the interface description and a little bit about the BOS) can be found in the previous fallout manuals. And they still don't tell you squat about the weapons, armor, etc. Luckily, I have the strategy guides from the first two Fallouts, so a lot of the information still applies.

Good luck, and happy hunting!

I have run into this problem as well. Unfortunately for me, the bandaged message does NOT go away after each mission. One of my characters has even been "winded" and it sticks with him from mission to mission. I can only think that this is a bug and hope that is is fised in some future patch.

To get rid of bandaged or any of the negative status modifiers you have to use the doctor skill.

Thanks for the info Jermie99. =) Seems like I have tried the doctor skill before with no success but I will try again just to be sure.

What about the "winded" effect though? Hopefully the doctor skill will fix that as well but the description for "winded" makes it out to be something akin to being punched in the stomach. Why in the world would you need to receive medical attention for that let alone the fact that the condition remains with the character (presumably) forever.

Even if the doctor skill works they need to fix this so that the effect goes away after a few turns or at worst after a "game" day has passed. It's just plain stupid as it is now.

<sigh>

actually I found that if you had another ailment such as crippled or blinded and used the doctor skill it would go away, but if the only ailment you have is bandaged then the game says "no effect"
weird.....is this a bug....

[font size=1" color="#FF0000]LAST EDITED ON Mar-20-01 AT 01:17PM (GMT)[p]About it being a bug, I think so. But the doctor bag DID heal my bandaged state along with some hit points when I wasn't at full health, but when I try to use it on my bandaged char in perfectly good health, since there's no damage to fix, it thinks there's no problem to heal, so there's no effect. I guess the game doesn't consider being bandaged an ailment.

I think a temp fix until a patch comes out would be to have one of your guys punch the bandaged guy in the face, or at least do something to take some damage, and THEN try using the doctor skill on him which would heal both the damage and bandaged state.

One thing I'd suggest to microforte, though, it to make it so the doctor skill without the bag could remove bandages. I checked to see how much a bag cost fromt the medic supplier, and it was nearly 5000 i think. :(

I doubt it's a bug - FirstAid is bandaging and Doctor Skill is actually healing. That's why nurses and doctors get paid differently in the "real world"... On the other hand - getting spliced up and put back together by a doctor would still leave you "bandaged up" for a couple of weeks...
So they should leave "bandaged" as a mark of somebody been wounded in battle...

At the end of 3rd mission I came back with 10 AK47's, 10 pistols and some 10 SMG's, not counting countless misc weapons... If that not enough for a Doctor Pack? Plus... You can always "steal" in this game - many people forgot the wonderful skill that should never be ignored... :) There are not that many NPC's to steal from but your "Brotherhood" is full of people packing fun stuff...

In real life - stealing is not recomended... But in the game? Paaaleassseee!

Thanks all! I got it working now; just take some more damage and THEN use the doctor kit.
