Just putting this here for the sake of posterity: I haven't been able to fix the issue in Fallout 1.
I've played around with a few things but the bug where it doesn't display properly ( http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Berserker ) seems like it would need code-editing to fix.
In which case, it won't be addressed until Fixt has moved into the Fallout 2 engine.
Let me know if I missed anything though! If there's a fix floating around the interwebs I'd love to include it in Fixt.
