Bethesda.net Forums Being Replaced

Shardik

Still Mildly Glowing
It only took a year and a huge chunk of the old community walking away, but it looks like Bethesda finally recognized that their shiny new Jive forum was an unsalvageable pile of shit.

It'll be interesting to see what they replace it with, and if they can persuade some of their old timers to come back.

Do have to give them some credit, though. They could have easily gone the Bioware route and told their community to just piss off to Facebook and reddit, but it seems like they're at least willing to try to fix things.

Well, let's hope they finally hire competent moderators or at least moderate their new site themselves. Otherwise, the damage is done and DDProduction already quit. If they didn't fix it FOR real....

I'm just reading between the lines, but I get the sense that the moderation tools at Beth.aids are lacking to say the least. You even had mods bitching about the forums in public posts - that never happened at the old forums. And that may be half or more of the reason for the move.

But yeah, their new "community" is toxic as hell. It's not going to be enough for them to just bring back actual forum software - they're going to have to seriously rein that group in, or no one who left will bother to stick around.

About time. Why they didn´t take a page out of the nexus is beyond me. Hoppefully people become wary of Zenimax since they seem to be joining the ranks of the worst companies along EA and Ubisoft.

I don't understand what the hell they were thinking when they upgraded to that piece of shit. It's completely inferior to the old Bethesda forums, and that forum had seen a bunch of updates that "streamlined" it for the worse and it was 'still' far better than the unbelievably stupid "community".

Didn't they change it to "community" so that it would be easier for mobile users to browse or something? Cause I can browse NMA just fine on my mobile phone and it didn't need to be neutered for that to happen.

So bethesda.aids did not work out in the end? Who would have thought?

That said, I am a bit surprised I mean I thought they would at least try to make this whole forum enjoyable at least for their newest fanbase.

However, that doesn't seem to be the case. Let's just wait and see what else they can do to piss off literally everyone.

Maybe they will mess up so hard, even biggest bethedrones won't stand for this.

Considering Bethesdas motto seems to be "If it didn´t work, remove all traces of it", I´m not that suprised.

Their biggest mistake, which they made right out of the gate, was deciding to use Jive to try and actually run a basically wide open community. Whoever in their IT department (or from their IT contractor) recommended they use it should never work in the industry again.

I think they did try, too hard, to make it work, but in the end decided it was a hopeless task.

They are basically telling every poor sould that had the displeasure of joining beth.net "Paid mods are returning, hurr durr".
