((BewareFo2Spoilers))How do ya get Idolized Karma in Modoc?

Black Triad

First time out of the vault
Not just in Modoc but in all cities what you say, what you do, and what order you say and do them affects your global and local Karma. I can only seem to get Liked in Modoc no matter what I do and believe me I have tried ALOT of things (Hex Hacked all 10's character, Fo2 V1.2d). For some reason Empathy does not work in Modoc -yeah I tried that. All options are always green and I know for a fact that some cause Karma loss and some cause Karma gain.

Before IGN.com there was the GameSages.com and before that they were the SegaSages; does anyone remember that? Back then they had a walkthrough guide for Fo2 that was simply incredible(If you wanted to play a white hat). This guide explained every quest and obscure subquest and also detailed exacty what you needed to say to each NPC and in what order you needed to say it in order to achieve the maximum possible positive Karmic result.

It was a LONG time ago that I read the guide and my memory of it is not certain or complete but here is a few things I think I can recall:

1) The date on the guide was 1998 or 1999.

==((SPOILERS FOR Fo2 FOLLOW))==

2) It's Den section favored buying 4 drinks from Rebecca and then asking her why her drinks were so cheap after being asked to find out by the rival bar owner as opposed to waiting for the door guard to move and sneaking downstairs to actually see the still.

3) I am pretty sure it also contained the information on how to receive a reward from Mom for killing Metzger as well as Rebecca.

4) It stated that because of a bug in Fo2 Idolized Karma could not be achieved in Modoc if you got Karl at Mom's in The Den to "tell his story" before you delivered the message from the leader of the Ghost Farm to the Sheriff in Modoc. This effectively forces another trip to the Den to hear his story. It also forces the risk of an attack on the Ghost Farm by Modoc if you do not return within the alloted 31 days. On the way back to The Den must you talk to the leader of the Ghost Farm? I can't remember.

5) I believe the document also stated that it was imperative that you not allow the butcher to slaughter the brahmin at the slaughter house in Modoc. I do not think it said you were supposed to achieve this by selling off Bess to the Slaughter House owner and then setting her and all of them free because this causes your Modoc local Karma to go from neutral to the next lower category.

6) I think I recall an obscure subquest involving the stable boy in Modoc. You need to have a certain item in your inventory and talk to him at a specific time period in order to receive information about..the missing gold watch?

==((END OF SPOILERS))==

Do any of these points ring a bell? Does anyone remember the site and guide I am referring to? I can't find this specific walkthrough anymore and believe me I have laboriously searched. I doubt I will ever find it.

However I do have the official Fo2 map maker and script compiler tools and I believe they can get me the answers I need. Perhaps someone could give me some pointers on how to use them to get to information that will save me some time?

I would be greatful for any help y'all can send my way.

I find it hard to believe that you are apologetic in any fashion when you prove you didn't read the stickied posts and then try to tell us how to moderate the forums despite having it clearly marked. It kind of feels like someone tracking in mud a second time while apologizing for the first time they tracked in mud.

It could have been moved here instead of locked.....

It could have been, but it wasn't. You would understand why if you had read the stickied posts.

It was a mistake and I did offer an apology. If it is this forums policy to use personal attacks upon new posters when they make their first and only post then perhaps I should look elsewhere for help.

Yes, perhaps you should...

*POINTS TO STICKIED THREADS*

That's exactly what was told to you last time, which is where the answer to your question lies. There's no apology good enough for missing that twice. Thrice with this post. Please don't try to impress us by doing it again.

Here, let me offer one, too. I am truly sorry that you would expect that I would swallow that. A first post isn't any excuse, after all, the rules should be fresh in your mind. An apology doesn't really mean a damn thing when you are rude in the next sentence.

Might I suggest GameSpy? They don't care about the posting environment there, so I am fairly sure you could post whatever you want on whatever forum you want. Go right ahead and post your little heart out there, as we don't care to coddle those too rude and stupid to understand the concepts of rules and obeying them. They don't care, as all you mean is ad impressions, maybe a subscription cost, and little more.

If you think this is a personal attack, or anything others and I have said to you is a personal attack, you really need to seek some contact with reality. Soon.

I frankly can't be arsed to get involved in something only to do with karma and reputations, but in any case, some of the things you refer to in that walkthrough are quite nonsensical so it might not have been a very good one. Also since decompiled scripts weren't available back then as far as I know, they probably couldn't find out how to optimize karma and reputations, either.
