Birthday Present

Sonny, I Watched the Vault Bein' Built!
My father is going to be turning 45 this Saturday and I’m debating on his birthday present, what do you get a man that has everything? Something that your going to have fun with as well. He loves FPS like Quake, Wolfenstein original and the new one, FEAR ect. So I was thinking about getting him Quake Wars, something that is just point and shoot with intense AI or I was thinking about getting him a Wii which is still hard to get in the US.Any thoughts on which I should go for, money is not a problem. And if I do get the Wii what games should I get with it, I know he would really enjoy the tennis game anyone know if it comes standard?

I thought it was out already i could have sworn I seen a post from someone who played. in that case any FPS that you could recommend?

Well unfortunately all the hot new FPSs come out around August or September.

GRAW2 is coming tomorrow, it's a tactical shooter, but you might try that.

na he doesn't have the time for tactics, just point and shoot type games that we find to be boring. I kinda want the Wii so lets focus on Wii games from now on.

I'm loving Lost Planet, which is an absolute shit game storywise. The whole point of the game is to shoot things, you start dieing (you health is constantly dropping due to the subfreezing temperatures of the Planet) if you don't keep killing things.

Quake 4 is a lot of fun, though from the sound of your post you've already tried that?

Metroid Prime 3 is supposed to have brilliant new controls and... ah yea, that's an august title too :-D.

I've got a wii and I've only played Zelda which was pretty hot. If he's been into games for a long time, a Wii Points card is a nice trip down memory lane.

I got one for my brother on his birthday and we've had a blast playing punch out, the first Legend of Zelda and Streets Of Rage 2.

The tennis game, Wii Sports comes with the wii. If you get the wii, make sure to get another Wii Mote (you won't need a nunchuk though). Wii sports is a boatload of fun and what most of my family still plays.

As for other games... I've only bought Zelda since I got mine so I'm not of much use there.

My STALKER came with Quake 4 but since pops was playing FEAR right before he said he wasn't to impressed with the AI in the game.

I just spent 3 hours driving to every major electronic/game store in Staten Island with no success. I've seen the Wii's on amazon for around $400. but i would rather buy it from the store in case he says he doesn't want it.

maybe i'll just make him a photo album or buy him a bottle of Johnny blue

If you want to get a Wii, your best bet would be checking back with the stores every day (call in, don't waste the gas) and checking major websites for stores like BestBuy.com, target.com, etc. With their sites you can usually return online purchases to the store with the receipt, so if he doesn't want it it won't be too much of a hassle to get the cash back.

Getting one at Wal-mart was a pretty easy for my friend Ryan, and that was like 2 months ago.

The wii is a good option though, but if he likes FPSs that may not be the right direction for him. The large majority of games for the wii are minigame compilations.

Most of those stores said they wont have it for holidays. I've checked gamestop and gogamer, maybe ill give wallmark a try.

He was never a big console fan he likes the wii because its interactive. Actually he was a big Prince of Persia fan back when it was on the DOS. Maybe i'll get him the new one but i doubt he has time for a puzzle/adventure game

His birthday was yesterday, but I’m not going to see him till tomorrow maybe I’ll stop at best buy on my way home and get him a new mouse. I’ve had the same 5 button laser for a few years now it works great but I’m really out of ideas.

I like the G5 a lot, but I think it only comes with one thumb button, though they may have released one with two.

I love Rainbow Six Vegas.

If he likes Quake, FEAR and wolfenstein and so on.. I'd suggest The Unreal Anthology pack, it comes with every unreal game made to date (Unreal +expansion, Unreal Tournament, Unreal 2, Unreal Tournament 2004) and it's pretty much the same style.. The AI can pose quite a challenge on godlike.. ;)

Some other games that's just straight up action is: Kill.Switch, Max Payne, Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay, Far Cry
