Black scren on Wine

Vivecx

First time out of the vault
Hello everyone, I've recently installed FOT on my laptop which runs on linux so I had to use wine.
So i installed the game, updated it to 1.27, tried to run it but the only effect I get is a black screen and the intro / background sound. I have tried the Direct sound patch, moving the miles folder, but to no avail, and since I'm running it on wine i can't try the -s, -m, -gdi shortcut parameters.
I'm in desperate need of help since the inbuilt linux games are driving me crazy!
My laptop specs are:
Intel Pentium M processor 1500MHz
2061 MB of memory
Radeon mobility M7 LW (radeon mobility 7500) with 32 MB
and the inbuilt Intel 82801DB/DBL/DBM AC'97 audio controller.
And I'm running the latest stable version of Lubuntu and my Wine version is 1.4-rc2.

Three months later, a young FT enthusiast would finally decide to create an account on NMA and reply to a fellow Linux gamer.

Okay hi I'm Orangestar and I recently got FT to work on my Puppy Linux machine here, and I'd bet it would work on whatever you'd got if it works on Puppy. Anyway, I'm here to lend my hand for my first post. Hope ya didn't leave the forums too soon!

I managed to get it working with some set criteria:
1. You must first open a terminal and type "winetricks vcrun2008 directplay". If you're not planning on playing multiplayer, you can go ahead and skip directplay, and if you don't already have winetricks you should probably go get it.
2. When that's all said and done, type this exactly:
cd "[your fallout tactics directory]"
With the quotes and everything. the folder is named Fallout Tactics with the space.
3. Close any program that is currently using sound. Web browsers, other games, media players, whatever. Close out of it.
3. Start FT by typing:
wine BOS.exe -g
This will run it in a window, but without -g it runs super slow. And besides, the window is resizable! How cool is that?

Hope that helps you (and is easy to read.)
