[Black Steel] Good story idea!

First time out of the vault
I always liked the area fallout 1 was in so i was thinking maybe you should make mod take place in fallout 1 area during fallout 2. that would be a lot better story I think, and it would explain why you don't run into chosen one more than once.
 
I like too Fallout1 because is placed after war so most buildings was destroyed, the same will be in my mod. Maybe i made some back in time. Wonder how look all these cities before. So: in redding you will found only one small gold mine, reno may be occupied by army.

Well i like this idea and try make fallout2 worldmap in fallou1 time.
You can even start in vault 13 in the same search waterchip quest but search this to the north!
This will be alternate Fo1 in Fo2 engine.

My before concepts was too crazy so maybe i made it again and better.
 
searching for a waterchip up north would fit the FO setting... in FO1 Overseer told you that there were people sent out to find the chip before the Dweller... so it would be nice to take control of one of those expeditors... I think it would be hard but entrance to the Vault 13 is through a cave so when your character tries to get back to Vault 13 with the waterchip the cave entrance should be buried under rocks and the character would be unable to pass through... then when you finish the game you clear the entrance and get back in but the waterchip you found would be broken on the endgame boss fight...

This would make up for a nice storyline... And also the waterchip's brokedown will give way to the story of the FO1...

That seems really lame to me, the chip gets destroyed in the end-boss fight?

What if your a diplomatic character and make someone else do the fighting?
What if your a thief character and blow the boss up instead of fighting him?
What if your a super gunner character and take the boss out quickly? woopty doo...

Why couldnt you dig up the cave before? why should you be able to now? so conveniently? that seems really lame... i was hoping you were going to say something like

"But if your another character and you come back without the water chip they dont let you in becuase they think your dead (or dont believe you in general) (or have a secret plot against your character) (or even though you have a good speech skill let you in, dont recognize your mutated self, and kick you out)"

Something like that...
 
new reno shouldnt be occupied by military i think it should be all based on the families starting like there would be Big Jesus mordino younger and golden globes would be something different because it hadnt been made yet something like weapon shop
 
I like the waterchip idea, but instead of having it been destroyed in the fight, you could make it so that he does get it and in the end scenes (the ones that tell you what happens to all the different towns), you could say "The vault dweller never made it back"
 
And how about made totally different new game. None connections to F01, F02 and FT:BoS. Just some game in postapoc world.


(+) there is possibility to made everything orginally and you can see something tatally new
(-) people are accustomed to "fallout name" and whole bible story
 
Bible? I personally think the game would be 10x better being based off the fo1/2 worlds.

END BOSS isn't necessary... it could be a electronic blast that breaks down the chip. that scriptwriting bullshit was just an idea. it was a lame idea indeed... I didn't say that you're going to break the water chip... You're just going to control one of the unsuccessful compeditors sent out before Vault Dweller... Maybe the guy who lays dead on the cave entrance in FO1...

And as I said before END BOSS is not necessary... that was just a simple idea...
 
Ah, yes, the unfortunate fellow lying near the vault entrance. I was always interested in his story. Did the Overseer decide to send out the weakest dwellers out of the vault on a quest knowing they would immediately get killed by the rats outside? Was he in fact a tough guy who had the misfortune of getting out of the vault on the same day a deathclaw decided to visit it? Or did the man suffer a fatal cardiac arrest? We might never know.
 
If this is an alternate dimension of the Fallout world, then you can digress all you want. Maybe the water chip never breaks down but something else happens. Someone in the vault disabled the chip for their own reasons. I love the idea that you are one of the people sent out before the Vault Dweller and that you failed. What reason did you fail? Maybe when you create your character there can be some new alternative backgrounds that explain what you've been doing since you failed.
 
Indeed. It's a good idea because you KNOW that you fail, you just don't know how. I fully think that you should do the "left for chip before the vault dweller" story.
 
Maybe he critical miss and shot himself in cave darkness (luck 1)

I think to made new vault with new story but some like F01 when you walk to outside world searching some important.
 
maybe he should be searching for something new that wasnt thought of in fallout not hte geck, not the waterchip but somethign else like a power chip or something like he should be a citizen of vault 15! and be lookign for a power chip because vault was made to run out of power after a while like the crazy ass pres did with the vaults. Maybe like you find it but when u get back its abandoned and all thats left is a shack but no manhole because shack was built over manhole into vault!

I didn't say fallout 2 in fallout 1 time I was saying fallout 2 time in fallout 1 area, do u think you could do that?
 
Strange that game is olways start in northen areas, both in F1 nad F2 :roll: I think its hardcode in engine and unable to change this.

So you will start in Arryo on near this village (but if in different time this will be something new)

i reckon and idea wood b to b that person who sabotaged it...then u have a chance to b creative in thinking an idea of y u did it. you cood b hired by/be a mutant sent to sabotage vault life to force people out of the vaults...mutants waiting outside to take them as prisoners (saves having to break and enter and face vault defences)then that wood b a beginning to the game at least. and this time u START as a mutant. Then u can make the game go from there.... just a thought to build on

how about this: the story takes place just in the time of the bomb, you are ripped from your family and put into a vault. For the first part of the game you are doing errands so that you can get out of the vault because the people will not let you out because they fear the radiation will come in but you want to go out to see if your family survived. When you finally get out you begin looking for your family by searching for nearby vaults to check if they went for cover there. After about the 3rd town you visited, you find your old house and its completely wrecked, but through the rubble you happen to find an envelope from your wife, telling that they headed to a Vault 13. Before you arrive there you get a desert encounter watching two brotherhood guards fighting 3 super mutants. The brotherhood guys take 2 of them and one of the mutants shoots and melts the brotherhood guy and one mutant versus one brotherhood, the screen fades and it says : 3 hours later it shows them punching each other and showing the subtitle :panting: or something over both their heads then finally they just start laughing and walk away(this is supposed to be jacob and marcus from fallout 2). When you finally get to vault 13 you see the enterence and start running towards it but see that the control panel outside was eaten apart by rats. you turn around and walk away/ a new quest is added: find parts and tools. for this you go to a nomad town called Shady Sands it's populated by traders and thugs when you get there you are prompted by a thug with talking head for cash if you say no he attacks you but when you get him to almost dead he stops and says "WAIT WAIT ill do anything I'll do freakin' anything just don't kill me" you get 2 options, kill him and take his stuff and watch his thugs run away or option 2: tell him to come with you and guide you around the wastes or else. as you travel with him you can talk to him and you find out his name.bla bla bla and in your travels you come across a dirt field that he leads you to you ask him what its about bla bla and he opens up a manhole covered with dirt. this is the entrance to vault 14 a long abandoned vault infested with giant ants and rats(of all kinds) and when you reach the bottom level you find a computer module with the parts you need. Finally you've got them and you work your way out. you travel all the way back to the vault 13 cave and no matter where you look, you can't find the vault you travel for days when finally you collapse and the thug leaves you for dead.


Good story huh? I made it up right on the spot!
