Black Steel Mod

Lich

Water Chip? Been There, Done That
Throw out this B21 and Den Res, it is nothing compare to Black Steel mod that will be entire new game!

Maybe you dont hear about this yet. Yesterday I've released first demo, it's downloable from HERE (Polish version)

You will be playing as a pirate and rebel. Most inspiration is taken from FT:BoS, but this will be Black Brotherhood of steel.

As of now I've got intro, two locations with two quest (lot of new scenery) It is similar to Bunker 21 mod (in this game his got number 23 and is much larger) also got two locations in construction.

Lich, since this isn't a location mod, but an independent one, you shouldn't have posted in the thread you did in. I'm splitting this.

I'll have a looksie at the mod later.

Sounds good! Make sure you use the new critters I made, or at least the hero attack mode FRMs :)

I hear you work on scenery from FT to F2, its true?
this mod will be like FT:BoS so i may use them

I have converted soem scenery, but I didnt adjust the size (FOT art is bigger than FO2) so I need to size them all.

probably the best way is to resize them while they are in an animated GIF format and then convert them into FRM from there.

Dude_Obj has a good command line application for resizing animated GIFs

Well most scenery is single frame, but either way, imagemagick can resize them:

http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11559

Stange thing though qwerty ... That command works on animated gifs made by spr2gif, but when I tried doing it on one of your critters converted to gif by frm2gif, it gave me an error. It was something about the file names inside the concatenated file.

Also, if you try resizing this way, try it with and without that coalesce step. That command was found on a web site somewhere but it seems to slow down the animation. It seems to work for me without the coalesce step and yields no change of animation speed.

Not sure what to do about resizing your critters, I think they may need to be extracted to single frames and resized then concatenated back together. Fortunately imagemagick can do the resize of the whole set easily (may need a command line for loop to do this).

From where i can download these FT frames
and on which program U made it?

i want try make some one map that will be use the new graphics

We didn't download the FoT graphics, we have the game. The files are in .bos format, but really they are zip files, so renaming them to .zip allows you to extract them. The spr2gif program will convert to gif then gif2frm gets them in FO format.

sound easy but got the problem

-i download SPR2FRM from FMC
-copy file Spr-missspec_E from FT where i found a .spr file
(RobotDockingStation.spr)
-i put this on right folder (spr2frm)
-and run spr2frm by clicking on it (show message "sorry file .SPR not found)

uh.. maybe this work by enter from console dos?

Try this batch file that I made to make this easier. Clicking the batch file should convert any .spr files found in the same directory. Spr2gif will make a directory with the same name as each sprite file.

Spr2Frm is a batch file so you could just modify the batch file to include that option dude_obj :)

Ok thanks- it's work now, so i try move the scenery to F2

(if it is not a problem try made some batch file to make easier gif to frm heh it would be great thing)

Well the syntax for gif2frm is gif2frm file.gif
And you can put this in a batch file:

for %%i in (*.gif) do gif2frm %%i

Note if you do these for loops on the command line you only use one % symbol. This is a very handy dos command that I use all the time to do batch conversions of all sorts.

Yes but spr2frm is set up to process only one file, and it assumes you want frm output. I like to have the whole set of FoT sprites in gif format, and the simple batch file was intended to easily convert many sprites in one command.

BTW if you find you are running into limits with batch DOS command, Lua sripts seem to work great for automating stuff. Within the Lua script you can do os.exec("command"), and that command can be a string built from variables. I used that to make tiles. I think I will try making a Lua script that can resize those FoT critters to match the FO2 size (calling imagemagick to do the resizing).

I was hope the walls and objects is in .spr format, but they are .TIL
On this "scenery from FT" i was talking abut

So- it is possible to convert them to frm format? .til to .gif/.frm
if any one known- tell me please

(updated)

uh ok i found Red!Viewer program can handle it

I relase demo v3 of this mod.

(from now got only polish version downloable on FMC)
3new locations, 5dialogs, 1new item

Now is a different, U are some person that go to Redding search gold. On road your truck has out of fuel. U walk around country and find lot of interesting (new) locations and meet chosen one on his quest (you can join to his team and save the world)

game will be the same plus:
-new hero with his own problems
-lots new (interesting) locations
-tons of humor

So this will be large locations mod (maybe inside u will found other mods like abbey) not a full new game like i think first time to made
