Have you tried running it under compatibility settings?

i changed it to win95 and it still goes blank. Is it because im using win 7. Sorry, im not a pc gamer and im really clueless

Read the sticky Troubleshooting FAQ. You will find a link to the manual install guide.

ok i got it installed but the screen is all colorful, so i installed that high res patch but not, it's a black screen with the musci playing in the background..what do i do?

running it on compatibly

well it is installed and i have added the high res patch but when i start it now it's a black screen. But before i added the high res patch it was a rainbow world...so i thought the hig res patch would work or fix it but it made the game worse or atleast..black

I'm experiencing the same problem on Windows 7. I've gotten Fallout 1, 2 & Tactics from Steam and I've seemed to of downloaded Fallout 1: Rainbow Edition :)

So I've installed the Fallout 1 High Resolution Patch v3.0.6 which gave me the options to change the resolution which seems to be working absolutely fine, but once I change it from 8bit to 32 (which my computer is more than capable of doing) I get a black screen with the intro and menu music playing.
