BOS sound problem on winXP

First time out of the vault
Ive got the newest version of the game /1.27/
My problem is, that is the sound card is installed, the game wont start, i only get a black screen "working cursor", yet the hdd isnt read.
If i diseable the sound card, thge game runs just like a baby.
Sys: WinXp professioinal, 256mb ram, athlon 1 ghz processor.
Please help me!!!!!!!
If this question has been asked already, then sorry, i havent found the topic.
 
Please tell us what sound card it is . In the meantime try to go to the DX panel (search for dxdiag.exe) , go to the sound tab and move the accelaration slider to no accelaration before you start the game, and see if that helps.
