Broken Quest in Junktown (Bust Skulz Gang)

I purchased Fallout 1 thru GOG.com and patched it to TeamX v1.2 and V1.3.4 subsequently from NMA plus the high resolution patch. Game ran without a hitch.

However, during the "Bust the Skulz Gang" quest, AFTER I talked to the guard captain Lars that Vinnie is gonna hit Neal in his bar (of cuz, I completed the urn-stealing quest prior to this), things went wrong.

When combat started in the bar, Neal proceeded to ATTACK ME instead of the skulz gang. I understand that this quest can be completed after killing the skulz gang and then looting vinnie's body to return the urn to neal, but I cant do that now that the quest is broken. Since neal is hostile to me, I cant stop combat unless i kill him.

So far I couldn't find a similar problem online.

Note: The strange thing is, AFTER i talked to vinnie tat i stole the urn. the urn remained in my inventory! I noe tat he's supposed to take it.

help is appreciated! I cant put myself to continue the game wif a broken quest!

The problem is that the urn is in your grubby little fingers and Neal can see that you have it. Assumptions are made, things go awry, etc.

Try returning the urn to the desk secretly BEFORE you go to the sherrif to initiate the Skulz bust.

Did you actually steal the urn, or just grab it off the counter? I think Neal can turn hostile unless you successfully use the steal skill, even if he doesn't actually see you take it.

Even in the original version(the one with timelimit) the Urn always stayed in you inven, until you drop it, or give it back to neal.
And Kanhef's suggestion is not to set asunder, since I had Neal also turning hostile at me one time. But since then I figured out, that entering the Pub thru' the Backdoor between 04:30 and 08:00 hrs lets you get it without any trouble.
