What does burst damage depend on? Whenever I use a burst weapon, I do about the same damage (only a little bit higher) than with a single shot. When enemies burst me in combat armor I get hit for 100+. Even sulik does that insane damage, but I can not.
Bursts are explained in the manual, and they target outward from the weapon in a conical field of hexes.
Each shot has its own hit chance... If your PC is not a good shot, then less of the shots will hit the target.
It is a very good tactic to line up targets in the cone of fire. In Fallout 2, you have the option to spend NPC APs to move them out of the line of fire before you shoot.
Does it really fire in a cone that increases in size though, or is there a maximum number of hexes? It seems to cap at 3.
Also, if you don't want to move the NPCs, you can just set sfall ddraw.ini ControlCombat in your configuration to "2" and you'll be able to control every party member like you can your character (at least in combat). It's that easy.

I seem to recall that the Ammo choice was broken originally... There was hollow point, and jacketed armor piercing ~that did less damage, and I think didn't actually work well to begin with.
Well, I'm actually using(for the test) a 9mm SMG (and I know about the AP ammo thingy, I just dump all ap ammo I find). Sulik uses the same and does a crapload more than me.
