Can any artists make me a specific item for my mod?

First time out of the vault
Right now I'm knee-deep in mapping and scripting, and it would be a huge help.

Basically I need a pair of brahmin testicles.

No, really.

The quest is: a farmer is trying to get his two brahmin to mate. If you do a science the bull you realize he's actually a steer.

If you go down the road you find a diner with some guy eating "texas oysters" which, if you ask, you find out is none other than brahmin testicles. The guy claims he's eating them raw, and gets them "right off the bull." With a speech check, you can talk him into giving them to you.

With a high enough doctor you can re-attach the missing part to the brahmin.

If you come back to the map two weeks later, there's more brahmin in the pen.

Neat quest, huh? But I need the art. If anyone's willing to help I'd be very appreciative.

Uhm... You have interesting ideas about how transplantations work ...

Oh, come on. Because you can heal a broken bone overnight. And if you get shot up, you can inject yourself with a drug (stimpack) that cures bullet wounds.

And when you go to the grocery store, items just spawn somewhere in a foot locker you can't see.

...I hope you seriously weren't picking on the realism.

Depends on which kind of mod you want. If you don't want a slapstick feel to it, you may want to think about the issue. People moving in combat using AP while everyone else stand still or wares appearing in shops as if by magic doesn't (as easily) break suspension of disbelief since they're based on conventional logic, not real-world logic. If we're talking narration as opposed to mechanics, things are different. Not saying it couldn't be done right, but it sounded a bit funny the way you presented it.

I think one of the best things about F2 is it doesn't take itself too seriously -- I can point to a hundred little things from the "pop culture" reference in the Broken Hills, to the Goonie's reference down the well in Modoc (and the whole lassie ripoff "Is it aliens? No? Maybe something else then...") to the car hop in NCR. The masticator biting your ear off... the line where someone explains the repetitive artwork with a "cloning accident"... okay, okay. I'm going to stop now.

Personally, I think it's stuff like that which makes F2 so great.

Wasn't there brahmin testicles in modoc that you eat and they poison you? Also, the quest is similar to getting chip back his spleen in SF. Seems like just a takeoff of ideas that were in FO2.

I doubt that people are running to their graphics programs to make testicles for ya. Why not try making the art yourself? And you'll need scripts for all of that too.

So basically you took the time to post in order to say that you don't like my ideas and to claim nobody would be willing to help me.

The gyst of it was ... if you're not even willing to try, its not likely that others will do it for you. That's why I said "why not try"

Because I'm writing a mod from scratch and I'm already doing all of the mapping and scripting. I need to budget my time if I want to get it done.

Very intersting idea.

Do you just need someone to convert the art to a .FRM for the inventory pic, or do you need the pic itself made too ?

Oh, I need the art too.

Like I said, I'm doing a pretty big mod with no help, so any new art is a "nice to have" and certainly not a priority for my time atm.

I really need to pick up an artist to make me a batch of quest items and/or critters, because I'm pretty much limited to whats in the game.

I checked the downloads, but nothing really matched the flavor of my mod.

You could always go along the line of something a little more gross but at the same time a little more true.

(btw in FO didnt you replace some guys liver?)

How about you have to take a sample from a bull somewhere else, and then use the 'sample' on the brahmin cow. The gross part would be how to get the bulls 'sample'

In the art pack I uploaded it included a brahmin horn (not sure if that will be usefull or not) and the first critter pack includes another brahmin model that could be used for the brahmin bull.

That was done in a highly advanced facility with lots of guys in white robes hanging around. And it wasn't exactly the high point of the game, as quests go.

Well the setting for my mod is really low-tech type farms. It's pretty much the opposite of F2, where you're the "tribal." In my mod, you're the city slicker and the NPCs are a bunch of stupid yahoos / random guys living out in the wasteland.

I just thought it would be funny to have a farmer that didn't understand why his brahmin weren't mating, when the answer is the brahmin's been castrated.

Then you have to go find the "replacement parts" and attach them to fulfill the quest. The thought having them show up at a diner down the road made me chuckle, anyway. But I suppose kids could be playing hackysack with them or whatever... just some unconvential use to underscore the backwardness of the town.

Um, if its lowtech they wouldnt be able to replace it.

Maybe have the quest to be to find out why, then the farmer has you hunt down the party responsible and tell him

I still maintain that it would be easy enough to just take a sample from a bull somewhere else... Farmer do it easily enough and then jsut frezze in it liquid nitrigen until they need it to get the cows pregnent.

Maybe you could find an old canistor of it from such farm somewhere, of course it would be un-nuked and you would run the risk of breeding a brahmin with only one head (at which point the farmer might get scared and kill the freak calf)

Got in the mood for it . .
