Can modding make power armor more like FO2?!

As for not feeling like a walking man-tank, yeah, that's the problem with Power Armor in Fallout 3. You feel like you just added more protection and there, that's it. Really. The problem is that damage resistant is only determined by DR. That's it. No Damage Thresholds, no DIFERENT damage kinds (really, bullets = lasers = plasma = explosion = flame. At least for armor matters, it is all the same shit). And there is nothing like different bullet types IE JHP and AP bullets. Dumbing down at it's best, folks.

I can't stand it in FO3 that in power armor I can get taken out by pistols, SMGs, shotguns, or assault rifles, not to mention combat knives or dog bites. Power armor should be IMMUNE to most attacks out there, like in FO2, where you could be hit for no damage. But in the current system, DR is a percentage reduction of damage, not a true armor class...

So, any modders think that power armor can be restored to the way it used to be? Is it possible? I thought maybe an Oblivion-like protection from normal weapons, and then classify all the smaller caliber weapons as normal. Actually, if there was an enchantment to hit system/immunity as in D&D that would solve it. Or the DR could be set for different weapon types.

lastly, if anyone knows a mod currently existing that makes Power armor suck less, please let me know.

Cheers,
