Can you bring back Ripley for interrogation?

In the second mission you can free Ripley from the raiders then the General chews you out for not bringing her back. I was wondering if this is possible. If you can bring her back maybe she won't get killed by the you-know-whats later on.

Either it's a scripting bug, or it's just Ripley's fate to get wasted
