Can you run Fallout in a high res?

Does anyone know how to run fallout 1/2 in a high res like 1280x1024? The reason im asking is because i have a lcd display and everything below that res is blurry as hell.

Sorry about the gravedigging here...

No, there's no way to play the game in a higher resolution. The whole interface is built off of the 640x480 grid, so if you just blow up everything to be suitably huge (which would be a very daunting task) your interface will be shot to holy hell. Besides, blowing everything up would make it hopelessly pixellated. I'd give my first born son to play Fallout in 1024x768, but it isn't likely until the mod community can get its hands on the source code.

Would it be technically possible to snatch the game's graphic output and subject it to some devilish form of Gaussian blur before feeding it to the monitor? Not saying it'd look good, but...

It may be possible with a MS-DOS version of the game, and with DOSBox, to change to a higher resolution and graphics filter. Try looking that route if you're interested or see if someone has already done that.
