Cannot find 10mm pistol in the rat caves in Fallout 2. Help?

So I have finally arrived at the rat caves and was really pumped to get my pistol. I arrived at the trapper body north of the Rat King and... nothing. His inventory is empty. I have wasted the last couple of hours searching on the web for someone with the same problem, to no avail. What should I do? Is this a bug or am I searching in the wrong place/body? Help, please?

Looks like you're playing with killap's patch. If so, check out the floor nearby! Pistol has been removed from the corpse in order to avoid old issue when all the items from inventory were inaccessible due to blood pool after disappearing of the body.
