Cannot talk to Marcus

Hi all,

Sorry if this has been answered... I did search the posts but did not find anything with the phrases I used.

I am playing the unpatched game (v1.0) and have Cassidy, Vic, and Marcus in my party. Suddenly I cannot talk to Marcus. When I try nothing happens, and the info window in the lower left of the screen just gives me his description as if I examined him.

I have been moving inventory to and from Marcus using Steal and Plant, but I cannot see his health, how much he is carrying or anything. Plus, I cannot get back into VC (I am a citizen already) because I cannot tell Marcus to wait outside the gates.

Any help?

I assume you've used the save converter for the latter?

A bug is known to do this to Vic (although he still responds with floats).

Do you see any floats etc. for Marcus (e.g. when you enter New Reno or San Francisco)? Did you maybe accidentaly wound Marcus in battle?
 
I've had this problem in the past too, damn annoying.
Did you use the mutant "cure" from NCR on anyone? I think that might piss him off.
 
Hi all,

No... Vic and Cassidy were working fine (although both are dead now).

Have just arrived at NCR and only the Bazaar, so no mutant cure.

I don't remember anything of interest happening to Marcus to cause this (like injuring him in battle).

Is there a way to hex-edit the save game to get him back online? Barring that, I may just have to steal everything from him and kill him as I cannot even get into NCR Downtown or VC with him.

It sounds like he might have become flagged as dead or unconscious, in which hex editing might help. There's some recent thread about this happening to the player character.
 
He behaves completely normal in every way, except that I cannot talk to him. He fights, with the most powerful weapon. I have managed to do some collateral damage to him during combat, but he has yet to turn against me like Cassidy almost always did.

Anyone know of how to do the edit? Or where to find a description of the file so I can hack through it myself? Or... is there another fighter with Big Guns capability that I can kill Marcus off for? Hate to do that, since he has become a bit of a "friend"... The life of a game-geek can be pretty lonely, and I need all the friends I can get. :P

Oh well... thanks anyway all. I ended up hitting him a couple of times with Mk II fuel and the upgraded Flamer just so I could get back to VC and do NCR.

I am running around solo for the time being.
