Cant create power armor in F1 D:

First time out of the vault
Im trying to make first set of power armor. Im playing an evil toon and have a karma of -8. I managed to get the motivator from the paladins locker without getting caught, but now Kyle doesnt talk to me. I cant repair the armor unless he does i think.


Also im having the same issue with the elders. I spoke to the high elder about the millitary base up north, and he told me the elders wished to speak with me in the council room.

When i go up there, they only have red text, telling me to learn some respect, and that they dont wish to speak with me lol.

Anywho, is there any way for me to make the power armor now or am i kinda screwed? Beating the game is gonna be pretty tough in regular Brotherhood Combat Armor hehe
 
You made a mistake posting in the Tactics forum, while asking about the RPG. I have moved the thread.

Once you get the motivator, you have to install it in the armour yourself, just as he said. He will give you some Dean's Electronics books you can use to learn Repair, and you can get additional ones from the Hub library.
 
Thank you very much for correcting my mistake.

However, I already had a book of Deans Electronics in my inventory (repair skill of 47%), i have a "Tool"...tool in my inventory as well along with the motivator. Kyle wont even let me go to a dialogue box with him. He simply tells me in red text over his head to go away

I have sitting in my inventory:
Tool
Deans Electronics
Motivator thingy...

I now have a 67% repair skill.

I click repair, and click on the power armor on the table. It tells me "It seems to be missing a part that you cant find"

I have the motivator in my inventory. I dont know what else to do
 
Tried, didnt work =(.

Im starting to think either the game bugged or this is just the consequence of bad karma. Im probably going to have to storm the rest of the game in crummy armor and hope i make it lol
 
IIRC you just have to click on the suit when you have the motivatorin stock. I fades out/in and the new armour is sitting on the floor waiting for you.
 
ok again, it doesn't work.

I click repair, i then click on the armor

i get the message telling me i seem to be missing a part.

I have the part in my inventory, i have a dean's electronics book in my inventory

I have a regular tool in my inventory, i try using the tool and i get the same message

Ive done this at 47% repair and at 67% repair and i get the same message every single time....

No, Kyle's actually got to install the part before you get your chance to repair the armor.

You're not *totally* screwed, though-- if you haven't already done it, Talus will sometimes offer Power Armor as one of the selectable rewards for the Rescue the Initiate quest he gives you in the first floor excercise room. I was never quite sure of the variable that determines whether the armor was up for grabs-- I seem to remember it being Karma-based, but for Power Armor, I'd try it anyway. It's not a tough quest.

If you can't get the armor from Talus, your only other option is to blast the entire BOS (or at least, the first floor) to gain access to the first floor warehouse, the only other source of the armor. You'll need a high lockpick and a few sets of (electronic?) lockpicks for this, as the personnel behind the door enter a constant state of combat, even though they're locked in, even after everyone else in the bunker is dead. As you can't lockpick in combat, equipping the lockpicks as your active item is the only way to get in. Just a reminder: if you go this route, be sure to get all the operations from the Brotherhood physician (if a negative-karma character can) and all the other lower-floor gifts and goodies before you open fire.
 
Ok ill have to blast the place. Talus only gives you the armor if your of good karma.

My LPing is kinda low but i can boost it with books im sure. Where can i go about snagging some electronic picks? Im gonna go do Necropolis tonight to get the vault timer off my back, and then ill blow the hell outta the Brotherhood afterwords
 
Did you try using the actual Motivator? Right-click, backpack icon, select the Motivator?
 
Yes. I believe i tried absolutely everything i could do (placing the items into the armor, using the tool to repair, "trying" to use the motivator (that doesnt do anything) on the armor, clicking the repair skill and selecting the armor, etc etc.


So, in a fit of rage that suits my characters karma, ive now killed everything in the Brotherhood and am stubbornly trying to unlock that damned door to the warehouse. Im at 56% lockpicking skill and using an electronic lockpick i got from the cathedral. 3 loads later im just thinkin i might as well beat the game without the damn suite lol. Keep breaking my lock and if i position right, I don't think the fight with the master will be that hard
 
Fixing the power armor indeed requires you to be able to talk to the knight.

Also, 46% repair is definitely not enough to repair the Power Armor.
