Can't get FO 2 to play?

When I launch the game the screen goes black, I hear a warning sound and nothing happens. If I hit enter it shuts down the game and the desktop comes back.

I've installed every size of the game. I have enough ram, hard drive space, cd-rom is fast enough, I'm running windows98, I have directX 7.0. I've even tried two other computers and I can't get the game to install on them as well. Do I have a bad cd-rom disk or am I doing something wrong?

I did and that didn't help. But I did upgrade to directX 8.0 and that did the trick. Go figure???

directX 7 and 7a suck major ass

they did wierd shit to lightsources when i used 7, im on directx8 now
