For those of you in a part of the world that celebrates Carnaval/Mardi Gras/ or on of the pre Lent holidays- Happy Carnaval!

Imagine an entire country having a party at one time. If you haven't gone, you should. It's one of those things you should do at least once in a life time.

Here are some pics from Carnaval in Brazil from a Brazilian website.

Ugh. I've done it once too many already. Bah.

Aragorn said you were in the carnaval area of your town. That means you went there by your own free will, which in turn means you love carnaval time.

pwned.

No, you're completely misreading. Because:

A) My entire town is carnaval, I cannot be in the non-carnaval part of my town.
B) Aragorn has no clue where in my town I live, and I doubt he knows the lay-out of my town. He probably said that I live in the carnaval part of the Netherlands.
C) Which is true, but I have little choice, you know. Besides, more than 50% of the people in the carnaval part of the Netherlands dislikes it.
D) You just got pwned.

Nothing is wrong with carnaval per se, it just gets incredibly annoying after 16 years of it. :P

Sorry JJ- no pics, although some in the gallery come close.

But check this-

Kama Sutra meets Rio carnival
January 22, 2004

Risking a backlash from the Catholic Church, which often condemns carnival excesses, the Grande Rio samba school has chosen sex as the theme of its annual parade, and the show will include live simulated sex.

The parade's raunchy theme was chosen by carnival artist Joaosinho Trinta, who has gained a reputation over the past two decades for his choreographies and his preference for controversial subjects.

Trinta has decided that some of the Grande Rio samba dancers will simulate sex on the Sambodromo track, where the parades take place, using the 64 Kama Sutra positions.

A huge float transporting giant statues of Adam and Eve in the full sexual act will also be part of the parade.

Carnaval is fun.

I usually party on Monday night, not the day of Tuesday (usually I sleep through all that day). But it’s fun to dress-up according to some-kind of theme: last week I was Alex Delarge from Clockwork Orange, this year it was dark jazz club plastic-artist! Going from club to club, seeing everyone party with strange and weird costumes on…

Just would like to visit Venice Carnaval someday…

I went to New Orleans for Mardis Gras (Carnaval) last year, and I was in Venice the year before on a school trip. New Orleans is just one massssive and awesome party with hot naked chicks everywhere. Alcohol flows in rivers (not that it doesn't normally). In Italy, it was more of a cultural holiday. But partying still went down like it was goin out of style

Well, carnaval was the feast at the end of the Christian fasting(which has disappeared) when everybody's roles were turned around: for a day, the peasant got to be a lord and vice versa.

hmm why are they drinking liters of beer and f**ing every women they see? (at least it goes like that here)

That's just because it turned into one massive drinking competition at some point int time....

ANd what could be wrong with a drunken, sex-craving mob? I think carnivals are tons of fun, party, alcohol, beautiful women, what more can one want? It's Paradise I tell you!
