Cassidy and Vic wont equip .233 pistol. Megamod bug?

Just as title says, i cannot get cassidy or vic to fire the .233 pistol. I remove all other weapons in thei inventory and not only do they not decide to use it as "best weapon", they preffer to charge into melee instead of using it. What gives with that?
 
As far as I know, at least Cassidy can not use pistols because he has not the animations for this.
 
Cassidy and Vic can both use pistols, but the .233 pistol is counted as a sub machine gun (animation), witch they cannot use.
