it would be nice if there was a main character that meets another important character (possibly future spouse, maybe not though) and something happens to your main character, so you must play as the other important character to help your original character. kinda like in Resident Evil 1&2.

p.s. i'm sick of all those "i forgot who i am, i better find out" storylines. that is a (in my opinion) stupid and overused idea. :-(

p.s.s. someone reply to this please. it seems nobody replies to my stuff. :'(

I disagree. That would mean that during part of the game you'd be forced to play with a premade character. It would not only make the game too linear, but it'd also ruin the pleasure of creating your own character and playing it the way you want to.

It's only been used in a couple of games (Sanitarium, Planescape: Torment), and those rocked, but I agree that they shouldn't use this for fallout 3. But have faith in the guys from blackisle. They know they have to come with an original story to please the FO3 fans.

yes, playing as a premade character would ruin the pleasure of creating and playing as your own character. but, what if you could upload your old character from fallout 2 and they would be the other character? like if you are Angela Bishop's kid and meet the hero from Fallout 2? then he/she would have your own customized stats that he/she had when you beat fallout 2.

i couldn't help you on the import part. i guess black isle would have to come up with an Additional program to package with F3.

good idea about importing charecter but it wouldnt work because of the tips book you get from father tully after the game

Just came to me , when i posted the last message , What if you had a choice of premade chars with different quests? it would vary the gameplay somewhat and their stats would still be open to fiddleing

importing a character would work if it imported the character at the end of the game. this might not work, though, because i don't think the game saves the character right there without further "updates." i suppose there could be a program that you use with F2 also, to extract the stats you had when beating the game.

i think the premade characters with different quests is kinda a good idea, but it'd be nicer if you could make your own character and you have specific quests according to your abilities (i.e. high strength, charisma, etc.)

Why importing characters won't be an option

They're going to use a different engine. Which means the file structures will be different too. Nuff said.

RE: Why importing characters won't be an option

good point, but have you ever considered encoding the file into another file type? same way as you change a .bmp file into .jpg, or vise-versa. true, they would need to replace the model with a new 3d one, but that's it, i'm sure the stats will be the same, unless new skills are added.
