Characther creation mod

Spartan14

First time out of the vault
Is there any mod out there, that allows you to have an awesome day by having max everything in your chracther creation sheet? It's cheating i know, but oh so satisfying.

There's no mod (it would be more of an engine change), but you can get similar results with a savegame editor. Or hack a gcd file.

basicly yes, that is what i was looking for. A mod that changes your stats so that, basicly your invincible.

For once i want to go through the Oil Rig, killing everything

There is at least one edited GCD (character) file in the Files section, I think.

Read the first reply for further information.

yeah there is a character editor in the files section it seems you didnt look!

I think its nice too, it lets you make your character more like you want to roleplay it, the stat thing is too restrictive in what you can be good at, i didnt boost to 10 but I didnt like how you cant be good at fighting and be good with people!

no but you can miss out funny stuff like getting married and the father saying I think I'm going to be sick and I knew my daughter was weird... and that he was turned on.. lol

i wouldnt have known but i read the walkthrough ( http://user.tninet.se/~jyg699a/fallout2.html ) now and then after i finish an area to check if ive mised anything fun - it seems if you dont have high CH you miss a lot of fun.. so making yourself good for fighting means you miss out!

What part doesn't work?. If it doesn't show up in the list of files to open, you could try saving a new character and see what directory the game uses for that.

under what directory do i save the falch2 mod?

i mean like, excatly, because i'm okay at modding, but figuring out this confuses me.

If it's a .GCD file, don't put it in data, put it in the main folder where you find 'fallout2.exe'

It should then show up when you select "create a new character" and "load"

under what directory do i save the superchar mod?

because i'm really having alot of problems with this mod and i really want it to work for me.

Sorry I don't understand what you're trying to do. :(
I don't know how Falche works as I've never used it.

The link you added in your earlier post is for a .GCD file, which is a pre-made character. The directions for that are what I wrote above. Everything else the read me file says is prolly true, except it doesn't go in the data folder.

With a good hex editor, a save game at the beginning, and a cheat sheet explaining the file format of the save.dat file from the fallout wiki, you can generate a character with maximum capabilities plus more (ie: maximum DR and DT against every attack, increase carrying capacity to some max amount of like 999).

If you want to learn how to take full advantage of hex editing and cheating, I suggest starting with a brand new GCD file just to figure out how to navigate and edit values. The GCD file can be generated on the custom character creation screen under the options button. Choose save and give it a file name. If you go into your fallout installation directory, that GCD file should be under the DATA subdirectory.

Of course, while you are cheating all the way, you might as well get the inventory editor and give yourself a ton of money once you have some money.

I haven't used the character editing programs, mostly because I remember them being buggy and its nearly impossible to edit the character in the middle of the game with them. With the hex editor, you can make a judgement about making certain changes and trying them out.
