Charisma-

ok, i thought of something (maybe it was discussed before but i cant remember). I think they need to put a little more power behind charisma. In FO 1 and 2 it seemed like charisma did very little besides number your NPC and decide whether or not you could become a porn star. Charisma is a very powerful attribute in real life and i think you should be able to do more with it in Fallout 3.

Old Republicans such as Representative John Randolph of Virginia were marginal figures in this struggle, where strict constructionists were at their nadir.[35] These Tertium quids remained adamant in holding the principles of state sovereignty and limited government, rejecting any protection whatsoever as an assault upon “poor men and on slaveholders".[36] Among more moderate Southern leaders who remained skeptical about supporting openly protectionist tariff, there were four additional considerations:

hrmm... Well, like all other attributes, charisma should give you benefits when its high, disadvantages when its low. So, where could we implement this? I think the truth is, keep the implementations where they are now, just make it possible MORE. For instance, when I think charisma, I think of a person you feel open with that you don't even know. So perhaps there can be many times you can extract information, or quest offers from strangers because of your charisma. This should be fairly self explanatory in examples but if anyone really needs one, ask.

In addition, I think the party member idea thats been in the games is good, though they need to give a better reason. Somehow the "You're party is to crowded" When its just me and sulik seems kinda odd. Perhaps it could be something more like "Nah, your not the kinda person I'd liek to be around." But yea, While this stuff already exists in fallout, I think the quest potential (and of course the options of different ways to solve other quests) should be expanded upon further than it existed in the other games.

I agree with you guys.I think that is more intelligent to talk thinks over than kill everyone
in whole game. But there is still some bad thinks.Like in Fallout2,when you go into wanamingo mines.Only Marcus can do somethink wrom aliens, if he had enought bullets. There could be better way do that,
like blow up the mines. What do you guys think about that?

If you sacrifice 9-10 points to charisma you might not be able to hold your own in a bar fight, but you should be able to get away with murder.

Well, that might make the deed to the mine worthless seeing as there might not be much of a mine left :). But yea, in general that seems like it would be a worthy option (though it may prove to be a rather easy way out?).

Interesting idea, maybe if you have a really low charisma you are much more likely to be accused of murder? Local law tends to think you are automatically "suspicious". Would be nice if towns have more life to have things like lower charisma person being hassled more by the law...

That would definitely be cool. Almost like the classic stereotype, he looks like a killer, so lets suspect him of killing :). I think that would add an interesting component and add some new problems that a low charisma character might have to work around. Maybe he could be given a quest or something to bring back a bandits head if he wants to be welcomed into the town :).

Charisma

Personally I have always considered charisma in Fallout as a combo of characteristics: beauty + attitude + worldliness (I LOVE inventing words) + that wordless thing you feel towards a charismatic person + elegance. I agree with the idea of having more reactions from the NPCs towards your charisma. A person who is ugly (relatively speaking), cranky, unpolished, bad-vibe-emitting and who dresses poorly is more likely to be picked on.

When you look at F1 and F2 Intelligence is a big part of the different dialogue options available to you character. I think Charisma should be just as or even more important when it comes to dialogue options.

In the previous games, it seemed like Speech and Intelligence were more important than Charisma. Perhaps this should be balanced a bit? A very charismatic person doesn't always have to be the smoothest talker or the slyest deceiver, sometimes the pure force of their personality should be enough.
