Christmas presents by NCsoft.

More like a final slap in the face for the fanbase, considering that they would have already paid for it.

i guess this shows that MMO market is starting to stagnate, and is over saturated with games.

Or the game just failed to be addictive drug.

Pick your favorite.

There are already many 'me-too!' MMO games which feature almost naked-sharp ears woman and magic out there, with only a handful of sci-fi (and successful) game still survive.

Here in Asia region, almost all the mmo games promise 'free-to-play' or 'free for life'. But in the end some of the in game items may force player to pay the developer/publisher through micro-transaction, a method which proven much more economic and effective.

yea, i started hellgate london like 2 months before it was announced they were shutting it down. havent gone back since the announcement.

it had its good points, but the weapon progression sucked ass hard. i LOVED the RPG but it was exclusively a low level weapon, so you had to farm low level areas and then upgrade it to your level.

i played TR in the beta, it was a great game when the damage for players was 2x vs mobs, once they removed that i never went back. had very hard time soloing. i hear they made it better though but its dead game so meh.

right now im playing guildwars ( got all expansiosn but the north one ), ROSE Online (free to play with microtransactions), and some CSS, and Supreme Commander FA (i love this fucking game, sets the standard for RTS, only RTS i have truely enjoyed since dark reign).

Yea, that slap did hurt but I still have happy memories or playing an MMO that wasn't swords and sorcery.

Wow, didn't realise ROSE online was still going. Played for a week years ago.

yup, rose is still going, free to play, and limited purchaseables from their "item mall". i think they did it right. you can buy some things, but the best things are still drops in their high level dungeons.

Gah, both Helgate and Tabla Rasa were boring to me. Helgate even more so than the latter.

I enjoyed Tabla Rasa till level 23 or so. It was at about that point that I realized the rest of the game was much like the beginning. I thought the story and many concepts interesting and innovative but when it came right down to it, the game was lacking something that could hook me.

Favorite moment in that game was walking into the bar to hear depressing country music playing while depressed NPC's sat about in their cup.

I went to future shop today and I saw that there were still boxes of Tabula Rasa on display. I wouldn't be surprised if there weren't a few people getting it for Christmas.

Don't mention Hellgate. Oh the hopes I did have for that game. Dashed and swept away by the wind. I had some fun with it, but since the server closure I haven't played it.

You think that's bad? They still sell Auto Assault in shops near my Uni and that MMO died way back.

Come to think of it, when I first strolled through the streets of DC in Fallout 3, Hellgate London was the first thing that came to mind. The ruined buildings in F3 are almost identical to HL at times.

I too had hopes for that game. "From the makers of Diablo" and all that...oh well.

Tabula Rasa...never really appealed to me. I was thinking of getting into it when it was close to release, but decided to wait for Age of Conan instead, which I've also decided to abandon recently (lvl 80 Dark Templar) until they fix my class and add some serious amount of new content into the game.

We had the same problem when I worked at Best Buy and they were selling Asheron's Call 2 after closing its servers. Could you imagine buying one of these MMOs and then going home to find the game no longer exists? eek
