Close Quarters Combat Technique

Well its 3am in the morning and i've come up with yet another idea that would add an interesting twist to fallout combat, how about the ability to disarm your oponent if you are standing next to him? and thus oponents can do it to you also. sort of an addon to the critical miss weapon dropped. also if you shoot someone in the arms there should be a chance that they will drop their weapons. =]

whaddya think?
 
If you cripple someone's arm, it makes many guns unable to be used. If they dropped the gun that was being held in the hand that was crippled, that would be about it.

I like the disarming idea. It makes a melee character suck slightly less. Good luck getting close enough to yank the Vindicator out of someone's hands.
 
True it would make melee characters less sucky, in fact it could make the whole game VERY difficult. The fact is a huge majority of mobs are melee and they come in groups. SO, what do you do when the group of 5-6 melee guys disarms both your guns and now has all your weapons? I mean you now have no weapons and no unarmed skill cuz your a shootist, You would be screwed. I suppose if you made it cost a shit load of APS to do it might work, and you programmed mobs not to try it very often combined with a low success rate depending on your melee skill it might not make the game impossible. You say good luck yanking a vindicator out of someone's hands; I say good luck getting to a part of the game where you can have a vindicator.
 
On a different note I believe what the author was intending is that if you get shot in that arm you drop the weapon, based solely on the fact that you JUST GOT SHOT. If you are carrying something and you get shot in the arm: you spasm, if it hits a nerve you reflexively loosten your grip, and quite possibly loose feeling in your arm. So dropping a weapon as a result of being hit in the arm could involve a luck role.
 
i also wanted to address the fact that you should be able to shoot your enemies weapons. and thus they can shoot yours too, your weapon gets shot, it breaks, more usefull repair skill there. your weapon gets shot and flies out of your hand, and so forth
