Colors messed up in Fallout 2

I just installed Fallout 2 on my Windows XP Pro computer and am suffereing a bit of a color problem. It looks like part of the video files and the actual in game screens' colors are messed up. The best way I can put it is to say that some parts of the video/screens are rendered in 8 or 256 colors while the rest look correct as they should be. I've tried installing the latest nvidia drivers, updating the game, running in 800x600 and 16bit color, but nothing seems to work. I've applied the latest patch, but still nothing. I have a PNY Geforce FX 5200 AGP card. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks.
 
I've gotten this a few times, it usually goes away if I exit then program the restart it immediately afterwards. Double-check to make sure fallout.exe is set to windows 95 or 98 compatability as well. There's probably a more permanent solution but those two things usually get the job done.
