[font size=1" color="#FF0000]LAST EDITED ON Mar-26-02 AT 07:53PM (GMT)[p]so now that im a working man =] i have decided that i want to build my own computer (buying different parts and sticking it all togather and such). But then i realized i have absolutely no clue on what to buy, or how to stick it togather. Seeing as my friend who built his computer doesnt feel like helping me, im resorting to the NMA board =]

so there are a few things i need to get done

#1 constructing a list of parts i need to buy
#2 putting everything togather without breaking the ever so expensive pieces

i want my computer to have a 2+GHz processor so that means i need a pentium4 motherboard.. right? :D

and for ram, i know that there are 3 slots (right?) heh, so im thinking about getting a 512/32/32 to begin with and slowly upgrade the 32's.

for my harddrive i think i'll get a 100gig so i'll basically never run out of space.. im sick and tired of my current 6gig harddrive where i have to uninstall a game so i can play another one.

for a monitor i'll use my old crappy one for now. i'll go buy some optical mouse, new keyboard and such.

lets see now.. i must be missing lots? right?
anywho, thanks in advance for the help =]

oh yeah, i forgot about 3dcards and such, anyone know of a good one i should get?

If you got the cash, buy direct from custom builders online, it's cheaper and better arranged. If you never done this before, I DO NOT recommend you try to do this yourself. You could end up wrecking the parts you spend hard earned money on.

You can try one of the following sites, or you can take a look on what kind of parts they use and just write it down and hunt for the parts yourself, then ASK someone else to do this for you. (why not pay your friend a few bucks for him to justify his time? $50 is standard.)

All of these are online/phone sellers, and that means no retail outlets. That in turn gives you more bang for your buck, more options, and more control of what you going to get. If you would like more options, go pick up Computer Shoppers, bec. they have listings of all the companies that do direct or just parts.

Good luck.:D
