computers in the news

That's really cool.

I wonder if people can use that system to find a solution to the "what do we do with all these obsolete computers" problem.

'Tis what we Orderites are best at. Good old thread de-railment.

And yes, I am cool, thanks duder!

Interesting.
what do we do with all these obsolete computers
We build servers. Installing a non-windows OS, and having some knowledge on how to set things up, can get you a webserver, mailserver or network server with old 386 PCs.

Sure, but since people aren't actually do that, then we still have a problem of too many obsolete computers lying around.

I never really have an obsolete computer..When technology arrives that I'm interested in, I buy the part, take out my old part, and upgrade my current system. Sure I've got a few motherboards and processors and RAM chips and graphics cards lying around, but they could be re-built and donated.

I just built my girlfriend a computer from a PIII 333..Gave her a shit-ton of RAM, 2 hard drives, a 52x CD burner, DVD drive, and one of my old Gforce 3's...Her computer runs XP and many current games with no problems...All she uses it for is Photoshop and Email, so the computer does all she wants and is capable of a lot more.

I used to be like that...

Until I got a wife and a mortgage. :(
