concerning the Glow.

Bullseye

First time out of the vault
I've played Fallout 1 for years now and i've looked everywhere ant i've talked to everybody but there is little to discover about what happened at the Glow.

The only thing i could make up about it is that it was a research facility (West Tech Research Facility) where the FEV was made. When the American government thought it was getting too dangerous, they blew the entire place up.

now what i want to know if this is right and if it is, when did this happen (before the war or after)?

And is there some connection between the Brotherhood Of Steel and the Glow, or the Military Base and the Glow?

I know i ask a lot of questions, but if the first one could at least be answered by someone i would already be very happy.

...
What?
No, this was a research facility which got blown to bits by a tactical nuke during the nuclear exchange. See, FEV was originally an anti-virus to combat the biological weapons the Chinese were supposedly using.
When it became apparent that FEV could do much more, they eventually moved the research from WestT Tech to the Mariposa Military Base, where they started to experiment on humans.
Right before the nuclear exchange the military men at Mariposa figured out there was (involuntary) human testing going on, and rebelled (with Maxson as their leader). They shot the scientists and seceded themselves from the USA. No response, when after a few days, they lost any and all contact with the West Tech research facility. The war had just broken out.
This is when they moved to the Lost Hills bunker, where they established the Brotherhood of Steel.
Go read the Holodiscs for more information.

Other question: how did those supermutants get into the military base?

(thnx for the other information though :D , really had that question for a long time)

Read the holodisks man. The master created the Super Mutants through throwing them into the vats. And those were located at the military base.

Not to mention that the master got created in the same way...

Although the Master floated on top of the vats for a substantial amount of time, whereas supes were merely dipped.

where can I find these holodisks? I don't ever remember stumbling onto masters audio diary or whatever...

Actually, the Master's audio diary isn't available via a Holodisk. You can get if off a computer in the Vats area.

I have one more question wich i believe is not to be found on any of the holodisks: What does the status in the glow mean that you must disable all the traps. I can't find any way to do that, i have been able to turn on the primary power and to turn off the security robots but that other thing is really hard to do. Does anybody know what you need to do and most of all how to do it.

You know that, that question is related much to game help and we aren't supposed to give it in here, but I will do it and hope that I won't be silenced, there are four things that you will need when you are entering the glow, a good weapon, good skill on it(an energy weapon is the best choice), a rope, and the rad-meds, preferably rad-x's. The security is quite thick, but it is supposed to be a military base after all, so it's supposed to be thick. There is, or was a bug with the traps so you can't turn them all off, but you can go around most of them, and there are ID-cards that disable some of them. :look:

And the purpose of this message was to ruin the fun of your's that would have come when you were able to defeat all the obstacles on your own.
