Connecting consoles to a PC monitor

Sonny, I Watched the Vault Bein' Built!
Hey,
I don't have a TV anymore so I've been searching for a way to connect my consoles to my PC monitor.

I have an Xbox 360, maybe a PS2(if it still works) and a Gamecube. I'd like to be able to hook them all up (not simultaniously). I've found a bunch of conflicting recommendations on adapters and cables and I really don't want to buy the wrong stuff.

I know that Xbox 360 has a $40 VGA cable for that very purpose but I have no idea about the others. Ideally, I'd prefer one thing that I could buy to use with all three consoles or at least two of them. I'd be more worried about picture quality though as some solutions make games look like crap, apparently.

The monitor is LCD with HDMI and VGA inputs.
Video card - NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT, with two identical outputs (one of which is connected to the VGA on the monitor) and an S-Video one (i think) that says "TV".

I'm also a complete noob when it comes to all these adapters and cables and crap so any clear and simple help would be highly appreciated.

Are you connecting an SVIDEO connection to the HDMI or is it Component Video (three video plugs colored red, green, and blue) or is it a standard RF connector (The yellow one that looks like a component but only has one plug)

Well, if I'm not mistaken, the consoles all have composite cables (red, yellow, and white connectors). 360 also has the green blue and yellow cable you mentioned.

The monitor has an HDMI and a VGA inputs. The video card has an S-Video plug, which may be in or out.

I want to be able to play those consoles on that monitor. Preferrably in good quality and with as few converters adapters and cables as possible.

Thanks, that's probably what I need. I wonder if the quality is good. I'm probably better off connecting 360 separately to get HD.

I made a post about this some time early, I think it's called "I want to go to the dark side" or something like that. Anyway, from what I gathered, the first few waves of 360s came with VGA connections? I don't really remember too well, so don't take my word for it.

And I replied to you there, ironic :) I'm probably gonna get the cable for 360 (the one I told you to get) and for others, I'll probably get one of those converters that Mord linked me to. The only thing with htat 360 cable is I'll have to unplug my PC to use it, which is kind of a pain but oh well.

Couldn't one of your monitor's inputs be DVI? A monitor with HDMI and VGA seems sorta weird.

Anyway, you can't really get great resolutions out of a VGA cable, so if you have one of the newer 360s, you should go for HDMI, since your monitor (apparently?) supports it anyway.

Nope, just checked. One input is VGA and the other HDMI. I got my 360 in 2005 or something so it doens't have HDMI outputs

Does it not have a VGA output?

No, it only has the one output that 360's have. It's not a big deal though, I'll just get that VGA cable from amazon. The other two systems will be a little harder. Apparently a lot of these adapters make graphics look crappy.
