Continued Play?

Chicken Liquor

First time out of the vault
After finishing my upteentrillenth play through of FO1 I am rather sad that you can't continue to play like in 2. So I was wondering if it has been talked about if after you "win" if you can continue to roam the wastes of D.C. I know that I will be playing all the way through atleast a few dozen times, but it would be nice to just continue on as well.

Thank You in advance for any info and opinions.

Ugh that interview just blew my mind with how terrible it was. Favorite quotes "We’re not big fans of timed sequences. As long as the player feels the tension there, we don’t like the sort of arbitrary time limit. There’s no Fallout 1 equivalent of return the water chip in time or the game ends." So you don't like time limits, but it's cool to not let the player play their character they've worked so hard on the second they beat the game? NEATO!

"And then they’d hit level three, and they’d get their skill points, and… where’s the perk? They don’t even understand. It’s like “I thought you get a perk when you level up?” “Yeah, every other one.” And then we decided that the most fun in leveling up, the absolute most fun, is picking a perk. It’s so fun." I don't know what's more unbelievable: that people can't grasp a simple concept like getting a perk every OTHER level or that Mr. Howard here is about to cream his pants over perks.
This definately lowered my hopes for Oblivion (I meant to say Fallout but I just typoed Oblivion, Freudian simple, eh?)

Yea the "get perk every level" comment is plain stupid. I thought Bethesda knew that we humans are intelligent, but no.

I've never had a difficult time understanding getting perks every 2nd level. Sometimes Beth acts like we're all slobbering ididots who need to have our hands held the entire way.

Perks are the most fun in levelling up? This guy's an idiot.

Isn't it every 3rd level?

And I can totally see Bethesda fans not understanding why you don't get perks every level, just like they'd probably wouldn't have understood why shooting a car wouldn't make it go boom.

Actually it's every 3rd level. I think Lionheart was the only game giving you the first Perk at level 2 (then level 5, 8, etc) and perk rates could be changed by traits, but in Fallout 1+2 it was every 3rd level.

Perks are great fun when leveling up (getting skills to 200 is better but I still like perks) but part of what makes them great is that it takes a while to get one.
One a level just makes them a tad boring.
