Conversion help needed

First time out of the vault
This one has me stumped. It recently dawned on me that images from UFO: Aftermath fit right in to Fallout 2, all I had to do was convert them over to .frm. After some searching I discovered that bmp2frm used in conjunction with a program called "alchemy" worked rather nicely. The only thing I had to do was change the black background around the weapon images from black to blue, save the image and convert.

The Problem: One particular image when loaded up with the official map editor is simply showing up as a blue on blue background (text but no weapon image). I have gone back and tried converting the image over with the same result. The blue on blue background persists and totally fills the entire item box....the weapon is nowhere to be seen. ( an invisible ak?? now how is this possible??).
Here is the REALLY weird part, other images such as the Steyr Aug, M-4, and about 5 others are coming in/showing up correctly and crystal clear (no blue on blue background)!!!! Even stranger is the fact that other item viewers that you can download here at NMA load up the AK image just fine (weapon on a blue background). If someone out there could tell me what the heck is going on and how to correct it I would appreciate it.

Ummmm, Errrr

Bmp2frm in conjunction with alchemy does this automatically for you. It already has a fallout palette included and everything is converted without having to download anything else. I guess you are not familiar with this program or you would have known.

Frameanimator is not usefull at the moment . I am trying to import simple Unanimated weapon images to be used in the character inventory screen, nothing more. Again the blue on blue image for the AK is still giving me fits, especially since all other images I have imported are showing up just fine.

Yes Frameanimator converts it to the fallout 2 palette automacticaly as well, but if you do it manually using Photoshop you get a far better result in the conversion.

Frameanimator will also do single frame FRMs.

bmp2frm was one of the first FRM converters made years ago and unless you have a need for using a command line tool (such as batching a mass conversion) I would recommend that you use FrameAnimator.

Well, I just tried again using an old gif2frm converter with the same result. I converted the image from tga over to gif then used the program on it to port it over to frm ...it said the conversion was successful, but again when I loaded it up in the map editor all I get is a completely blue inventory box with no weapon inside. Something really screwy is going on. I say this because all my other images are showing up in the inventory box correctly. I will go ahead and give Frameanimator a try....I certainly can't do any worse. I keep you informed.

:D Well, its about freaking time YAY. Frame animator finally did the freaking job and did it right  ....I must admit that my confusion level is now at an all time high though, or in simple terms, what in the heck is this program doing that the others are failing at??? I just don't get it seeing as all the programs from here would load up this file right and then the official map editor would get it wrong. As I mentioned before, all the others came out right with no questions asked....it just makes no sense to me at all. At any rate, thanks for the help and your patients. Inteck
