Couple quick questions, been years since I modded FOT

WarlordOmega

First time out of the vault
Hello, it has been a long time since I played FOT/Modded it. For the longest time I couldn't find my discs for the game, I think a friend borrowed them and I never saw them again. Anyways thanks to Steam I got the first 3 Fallout game again.

Anyways my questions, and I know I modded this successfully back in the day, but playing with the editor it is amazing how much you forget :-(

The first is making Raider and Reaver armor obtainable and usable, I remember they didn't have an inventory icon, but I could loot it/sell it/wear it. I could care less about the looting part, I remember it made for very quick and easy cash. If anyone can help me remember how to edit/what I need to edit, I can just toss a couple in a lock box in the first mission.

my next question is prob easier but still can't for the life of me remember how I did it. I had added a Dog recruit in the first mission that was essentially an extra party member right from the get go (why? cause there are no Dogs in the single player campaign, and what is fallout without Dogmeat ;-p lol). Have no clue how I did that. Do I have to manually create a .ent file? or can I do it right from the editor.

Anyways thanks, as I said I had done this before but can't remember how, sucks getting old... wonder how much other stuff I have forgotten.... ugh...

Using the editor you cant make raider reaver armor wearable on all characters, you can only modify characters to be raiders or reavers as far as making them lootable you just have to open up the armor ent file and check the box that says lootable.

As for Dogmeat I made one myself, first open a dog ent file modify it to your dogmeat specifications then save it under a new name, next open the map you want amd select edit entity now just add him to the map and lastly you have to click on him and set his team to either player or BoS.

The armour entity doesn't need changing, the game doesn't allow the looting of equipped armour from the corpses. You'll have to add an extra armour entity to the inventory of the actors or any other container. To make it wearable you'll either have to change the race of the human recruits to tribal, raider or reaver or if you want your character to be able to wear them download FTImprover, follow the instructions and change the armour permissions.

For a dog follower check out the FAQ thread there are several links to tutorials about adding new recruits to the game.

hmm could have sworn I figured out how to equip the raider/reaver armors. will post if I figure it out, maybe it was just a dream lol.

successfully added in Dogmeat, thanks for the help. Just missing a portrait, trying to figure that out now.

hmmm... anyone got a working link to Game Resource Viewer that the tutorial says to use for the picture editing? the one on this site under

-> NMA Nuclear Downloads -> Fallout Modding -> Graphic Utils -> Game Resource Viewer

doesn't seem to be working.

EDIT: ok I guess I can convert a png directly to a zar file with the tools. Guess i'll have to dig around for my photoshop disc after work.
leaving this post instead of deleting it if someone wants to check it/replace the link etc, if its no longer there.

Well finally got a day off to start messing with the editor again.

Successfully added Dogmeat the wolf to my starting party ;-p the more i fiddled with that, the quicker it started to come back to me...

thanks for the help on that note.

and as for raider and reaver armor... i think you are right, i musta just converted some of the recruits to raiders or reavers manually... anyone know if i do that, whether or not it affects equipment usage later in the game, power armor for example?

Tribals, Raiders and Reavers have all human armour permissions as far as I remember.
