Crashes..

Still Mildly Glowing
Sometimes whenever I play FoT, the game crashes sometimes. When that happens I recieve the message (roughly translated from Swedish): "The program has executed a forbidden action", or something like that.

My computer is old and slow, could that be it? Or can I fix it with a patch?

I had the same problem with my previous computer. I'd hate to rain on your parade, but patching probably won't help... well, not with patches I know off (I actually only know of the official patch). I had the same problem with Fallout when running it on a sucky computer...

No problem.

You could try to do what I did... quicksave after every important event... like killing someone... or walking through a door...

Yeah save often, but it would help if you gave us your specs!

The game does crash in places but without knowing what you are running it on, people will be unable to identify whether the problem you are having is down to FOT or your pc.

Then if that keeps happening, take the CDs out to the woodshed and punish them, so they will stop doing forbidden things.

Of course not. There is never anything wrong with your computer, and therefore all crashing is directly the software's fault in every instance.

Or can I fix it with a patch?

Yes, patch it with everything you can find, as that is your only hope.

This feels a bit awkward..but okay.

Be gentle.

Your specs are exactly the minimum requirements for running Fallout Tactics. For most games, the minimum requirements are a joke and specs above what is given are usually required. Still, having low specs would not necessarily cause crashes but would rather cause the game to have longer loading times and appear to lag in areas. One can only assume bugs are the cause of your plague. Still, increasing you system specs in some way would allow us to narrow it down more. :?

Well, my previous computer had the minimum specs and it crashed a lot... even patched. I stopped playing when I got to the mission where I have to blow up the 6 power nodes simultaneously because the game crashed when I looked at a certain place. Now I know some of you would want to tell me "well, then don't look there" but for me that was the reason to stop. Now I've got a way better computer and as far as I can remember, it hasn't crashed once...

Thanks for the replies, guys. I guess I need a fatter computer.

I've downloaded the 1.27 patch, but I'm not sure how that patch will make my gaming experience better...anyone care to enlighten me on the subject?

You can read the Patch Readme, or you can trust us that it makes the game run marginally better.

Besides with 1.27 you get the mission/item editors and can download and play loads of custom maps.
