Share stories of battles you've fought where shit hit the fan or were just entertaining in some way.


Here's one of mine: Was playing fallout 1 recently, at the part where the assassin attacks killian. I accidentally hit one of the guards when firing upon the assassin but he didn't seem to mind as the fight raged on normally, everyone killing who they had to be killing. About four rounds later killian missess the assassin and hits the guard that I had hit, scoring a critical hit and leaving him with 15 points. On his next turn the guard hauled ass into killian's room (not even bothering to open the door) and killian chased him down, completely ignoring the assassin who was chasing HIM into the room. I downed the assassin before he made it to killian's room but at that point killian had made it through his door (literally, the door never opened) and kept shooting at his guard from a distance of 20 feet, missing fifteen shots in a row. He finally managed to hit him a few times and killed him, so it goes. As soon as I clicked the end combat button the guard that remained in the room said something like "That was a bad idea..." and started shooting at me, the whole population of junktown now hostile against me.

I assume it's because I had witnessed a conspiracy of some sort and needed to be silenced before I spread the word of killian's dark secret
 
I always wanted to pit a huge battle in New Reno in Fallout 2 and I finally came up with a decent plan. I shot one of Salvatore's guards from long range and then immediately moved directly behind one of Bishop's bouncers. Sure enough after a round or two one of Bishop's bouncers was hit with a laser blast, and then a decent Salvatore + Bishop battle erupted. I've engineered it many times but Bishop always wins, maybe I'll do the reverse next time.
 
Fallout Tactics; the hostage rescue mission against the beast lords. I play on CTB mode

No shit, there I was. Had wiped out the detention center 1 beastlord at a time with knives, rescuing the war veteran. My support team consisting of an Avenger Minigun (stolen from Barnakey) and an M14 begin moving into position to help rescue the Ghoul hostage.

They get in place, facing South to whack any beastlords who exit the building. Then I start moving my sniper team (M14 & M1) to the east of the building; to take potshots and draw the enemy out. Simultaneously, my breach team with a Colt 45 and Desert Eagle both aiming for the eyes begin moving to the North side of the building.

For some reason, when my first sniper got in place, the beast lords, along with all their Deathclaws and wolves up and charge with no warning. This is when the shit hit the fan. The minigun raked their line, only weakening some of them as they overran one Sniper. My Breach team sprints Southbound down the road, switching to melee and chopping at the beastlord horde around them. My surrounded sniper switched to shotgun and blasted a hole to fall back in while my minigunner switched to pistol to avoid hitting allies. My 2nd sniper took potshots at the beastlords the whole time, generally getting 1 hit kills.

Relief came when the pack of useless ghouls decided to help their friend, rushed out and provided another base of fire on the beastlords. This addition wiped out the rest in seconds.

At the end of it all, the sniper who was surrounded had 1 crippled leg and crippled eyes, my 2 breachmen had crippled heads but the only death was 1 ghoul who had charged with a knife and got mauled by deathclaws.
