I'm comparing data contents while working on Fallout FIXT and figured i'd post this in case it's useful to others.

As you might imagine, currently i've only pulled the stats for Fallout 1 data files. I'll have Fallout 2 up at some point as well.

If you have versions of Falloutw.exe, MASTER.DAT, and CRITTER.DAT not listed here, please send them to me! Sites to use for uploading the file(s) are many, but personally I use www.megaupload.com

Cheers,

FORMAT: Download
VERSION: 1.2
LOCALE: EU (French, UK English, Spanish)
TYPE: Steam (steampowered.com)
NOTES:

1) Includes ddraw.dll and ddraw.ini, although ddraw.ini is in RTF/DOC format which makes no sense
-- sfall version 1.18e
-- (internal file version 1.18.4.0)
2) Readme files:

-- French, 10 March 1998
-- German, 10 March 1998
-- Spanish, 11 March 1998
3) MANUAL.PDF:
-- English
-- French
-- German
-- Spanish
4) .dat files identical to GOG version
5) Does not include any of the data files it should. Proper version 1.2 (including GOG's) has 27 scripts and 5 text files in (Fallout)/DATA. I assume this mistake by Steam will lead to unfixed bugs, and potentially other issues. Not sure what Steam was thinking here.

This isn't sfall, it's something that GoG created. I've never looked at it to see what it's supposed to do, but from reports about the speed hit that comes from using it with Mash's hi-res patch combined with the way it's linked to d3d9.dll, I would guess it's a directdraw to direct3d9 wrapper. (Basically doing the same thing as sfall does in graphics mode 4.)

The steam ddraw.dll really is sfall. Beats me why they've included it though; it's not set up properly by default, and wont do very much. :|

Cool, thanks for the info.

On the later, I did find what version of your tool it uses (OP updated), but like you said it's not really doing much with their setup. lulz :D

EDIT: That sounds about right, I opened GOG's version up today and FRAPS shows FPS while playing. Makes sense that running in Direct3D mode would cause slowdowns for some.
