Hi there, I'm back. I posted this story on the ARPG boards too, but it hasn't gotten many responses.

RUNE, the Arch-Norwegian
----
Stone laid his combat shotgun to his shoulder and fired. The heavy grain slug hit the raider in the lower stomach, tearing a hole almost straight through his body and making his torso sort of fall over, because the man's spine was halfway severed. The whole affair was of course extremely bloody, and the raider cried out inhumanly as he fell to the ground, blood leaking from the open wound in his front.
But as all this happened, Stone had cocked the shotgun and fired at the next raider. This one, the slug hit in the knee. Stone made a mental note to take some more aim next time. The raider had barely REACHED for his gun, it couldn't have hurt if Stone had used a few miliseconds more to aim for the man's head.
Both raiders were incapacitated. The first one had passed out, it seemed, or he was simply dead. The second one was writhing too much in pain from his exploded kneecap and half-severed leg to even notice that Stone pulled out a lighter weapon.
Stone kicked the man. "Lay still," he calmly whispered. Then he kicked harder. A steel-loaded boot straight to the raider's skull... left him laying. The empty stare in his eyes, as well as the bluing indentation in his forehead proved that he would keep laying as well.
That was okay for Stone, it only meant he didn't have to waste anymore bullets. He cast another glance down at the grotesque corpses on the ground.
"Pathetic. Animals, driven only by their minute needs... If they had gotten a true opportunity, they would have wasted it. They couldn't plan to save their lives."
Stone looted the pistol the second raider had in his hand, but let everything else they had on them lie. He reloaded his shotgun, checked his map to find the direction of Ransom Hill and walked on.
