Critters "jump" after first animation

Still Mildly Glowing
I place a critter on the map and then enter the game mode with F8.
Then when a critter does its first default animation, it "jumps" a hex forward. All subsequent animations do not make it do this. How can I get around this?
 
Did you give them any weapon in hands?
Not all critters have all animations needed for rifles, SMGs, pistols etc.
 
That's not the problem here. I'm talking about standard critters with animation support for their weapons. I can't recall at the moment if weaponless critters jump as well.
 
I checked this out again and I can confirm that the jumping doesn't occur with unarmed critters.

EDIT: The jumping is present in FO1 as well so it must be an old bug
