Darkwind: turnbased, vehicular MMOG

A developer from the turn-based, vehicular MMOG Darkwind recently stopped by our forums to inform us of this indie game.
<blockquote>We've been in development for ~2 years, and spent most of 2006 in open alpha. We're currently in closed beta but will be opening 'officially' within the next few weeks (late April/ early May 2007).

The major themes are: race/deathrace/combat leagues; real-world time-based travel/trade with detailed economic simulation. The reason the game is turn based is to allow a level of detail that's not really possible real-time: it's an MMO wargame rather than an MMORPG.

Interesting, looks to me to have much more longevity than Auto Assault had when it made the disappointing Vehicular MMO that was the final of AA.

Definitely worth watching and seeing how this evolves, and thanks to the dev from their team that brought this info over here.

Looks to be quite fun actually, though the graphics aren't that great they are definetly acceptable for what the game play is gonna be. I haven't had the chance to play it yet, so I don't know how comfortable it all is but it looks promising.

The physics displayed in the trailer look great! Fitting, isn't it, that it's using Garage Games' "Torque" engine. :)

Looks like old AADA members have a new venue now.
