Has anyone heard of the Xbox Arcade title Dead Block? Basically you go through levels boarding up doors, windows, and other entrances, while setting up traps and defending from a zombie invasion. I bring this up because back in 1998 I used to come up with game ideas for fun.

I thought up a game where you have RPG-like character progression while defending from zombies in an abandoned farmhouse. Basically you would go around the farm gathering materials to survive with nails,wood,guns,ammo,water,food,etc......

While Dead Block only uses some of these concepts this brings me to my point:

Have any of you ever thought of a game idea, and then saw it come to fruition by developing it ,or someone else developing it? If so tell me about it......

I was wishing the "all games made in 3d" fad would come to a close at some point, and it seems to be starting to come around finally, with the popularity of games like terraria and retro re-makes like the updated Monkey Island games and now Leisure Suit Larry reboot. For a while there publishers seemed like they wouldn't touch anything unless it was using some form of 3d. My true hope is that isometric RPGs make a comeback one day. Point n Click adventures have, so why not right? I love 2d. (no annoying camera issues, cough dragon age/NWN cough)

Yes, because a game set in a Zombie background is very important, outstanding and unique these days.

Sarcasm is great !

While I admit zombies have been overdone that has not always been the case until recent years.Red Dead Undead Nightmare,Call of Duty Zombies,Resident Evil,etc.... all added very little new concepts to the table, but were fun to play. The zombie fad started again and has been done to death at times, but games like Dead Island and Dead Rising 2 keep it interesting albeit a bit shallow.

My idea was more focused on character interactions, surviving by scrounging for supplies, and barricading up the farm against zombie attacks. It would be a combination of Dead Island and Dead Block with more story less mindless hacking.

I feel Walking Dead embodies my idea perfectly. It is more focused on the humans than the zombies. I love the concept of humans surviving extreme situations.

Don`t forget about Left for Dead,Halo, and Half life.Done to death indeed(pun intended).Your idea is almost the same as mine:Humans surviving extreme situations, but I rather have a Evil US goverment than zombies.

Evil governments are about as overdone as zombies! They are definitly more realistic though too . :)

Who said anything about realistic? I want a game where the United States goverment is trying to fight off a hostile takover,by there own scientists!(I call them the big seven)You are in Washington ,D.C along with four other people(maybe a senator)not fighting the big sevens clone army, just trying to survive the takeover.I think it would be a great series of games.
