Dead Mutants in the Necropolis?

Canis

First time out of the vault
I'm playing Fallout again, and I've just arrived at the Necropolis for the first time. To my dismay, all the regular mutants are dead. Both above ground at the hotel and underground in the sewers. ALL of them. So, clearly I can't speak to the underground leader about fixing the water thingy, though I suppose I can still do it on my own.

I haven't been to see Set yet, so I can still hope he's alive at least.

So, um, why are they dead? Is there a deadline that I have to meet to avoid this?

Hmm, are you sure its your FIRST time there? After you enter Necro. 300 days later, super mutants will take over Necro. So you most likely have visited it before to get the water chip due to the fact you have 150 days to get the chip. Not sure how long you have left when you send the water caravans since I never opted for that route. And yes you can fix the pump with out talking to the sympthetic ghoul leader.

:ponder:

I'm pretty sure it's my first time there. I haven't gotten the water chip yet, you see, so I don't think quite enough time has passed for anything to happen, though I'd have to check PIPBoy to see exactly how much time is left.... And I'm afraid I'm not making much sense am I.

This happened to me (sort of) in my last game too: The sewer ghouls and their leader dropped dead of their own accord after I spoke with them. He gave me the quest, told me where the parts are, I went and got the parts, and when I returned to the ghoul's map everyone was dead. I reloaded, returned to the ghoul's map, and they were alive.

No. Clue.

I got the games in that FO 1&2 dual jewel case pack. I wonder if it's a buggier version than the normal one? I know that the jewel case version of Torment has some unique problems....

Nope, they are the original games with the patches in a folder for you to install, nothing more, nothing less.

I don't think there's a trigger set off when you actually enter Necropolis for the first time. This happened to me, also, and it was my *first* time getting there, too. I've played this game more times than I can count on my fingers and toes. Only difference that time around was that I went to Necropolis pretty late with maybe 15 days left to get a water chip.

P'raps you waited too long, also?

hmm thats a possibilty, ive played FO1 alot as well and have never encountered that ever, guess its just one o those things? :?

I arrived at the Necropolis with, I think, 50 or so days left to get the chip. Looks like I'll have to write it off as "one of those things". Ah well.

Lots of little things like that seem to happen in Fallout. In the first game I played I had trouble completing the Bust the Skulz quest because the Skulz leader (Vinnie?) kept respawning. Luckily I have pretty good save habits and I was able to reload and avoid the glitch.

every time i do it thier dead it dosent matter jsut go get the water chip dont ngo with the luetinent super mutains are inredible EASY

my friend did it the underground way

and yes the underground dudes are dead all of them

Could you please start using the "Preview" button when you are writing? You are not in a chat Dogmeat, you can think about what you write and take your time fixing your sentences, if not we just can`t understand what you`re writing.

"every time I do it they're dead it doesnt matter just go get the water chip. dont go with the lieutenant. super mutants are incredibly easy."

Granted he needs to spend some more time but you could read it just fine Briosafreak, I think you're still in shock from his last thread 8)

There is a specific date that the super-mutants wipe out the Necropolis gouls, I think it's March 15th. If you get there before the date, gouls alive...after, gouls dead.

No problem. It's just that common sense says that if they didn't get the answers they were looking for 10 months ago, they're probably not still watching this thread. ;)

To tell the truth, I didn't even look at the date of the last message...There is so little little I actually know about the game that I was just pleased as hell that there was a question that I Knew the answer to...

I'd rather have old threads bumped than have us end up with 10 identical threads which only differ in date created, so no problem from me. Although it is a weird feeling to see someone that hasn't posted in a long time, then to realize that the thread is from last year.
