Decadent Round up Yet Again

Morbus

Sonny, I Watched the Vault Bein' Built!
Over the last few days, Vince & Co. have been showing us some more stuff about their game over in their forums. Firstly, we’ve got concept art. Here’s my favorite, but there’s more where it came from:

There’s also a big discussion about how the map should look like here. Here’s what Oscar’s turning it into:

Also worthy of notice, there are two new screenshots of the Barracks District in Teron, released here:

Last but not the least (this sounds extremely cheesy...) we’ve been shown a little bit of what Age of Decadence’s combat trailer will look like, here. It’s a very short “combat video draft”, but that’s because they were “having some issues with PC doing a great job dying quickly”. There’s also a lot more stuff going on on their forums, such as discussions about combat mechanics, about lore, about a new fake bump map effect... Just be sure to drop by if you’re interested.

Screenshots better than old, but still looks like "Back to the 2003".
To me, it looks like 2008/9... The lead artist is extremely talented, and considering it was supposed to have spiderweb-like graphics, those are incredibly amazing. Graphically stunning, and that's an understatement. (Fake) bump mapping? Shadows? You know we were *this* close to not having them in the game? Shadows specifically, as they are the most significant graphical eyecandier in any game...

my thoughts exactly...

i really would like afterfall to become finished, but having followed it's development since the very beginning i heavily doubt it. AoD on the other hand will be released in Q1 2008, so, yeah.. nice graphics aren't everything.

And i also find it amazing that on a "Fallout Fansite" the biggest complaint you guys have about this post-apocalyptic, choice&consequence-heavy, turn-based RPG is that the graphics are from 2003. You guys suck.

x2

I thinks it's one in the cage rather than two in the roof... :P My native version is similar to yours, though <3

Q1 2008? Really? Can't believe it 8-)
VD said they'd be entering IGF 2009, which means a feature-complete version of the game has to be ready by 2008 September, or so. Maybe not Q1, but a 2008 release doesn't seem that unlikely now, at any rate.

I'm getting more and more interested in this project.

guess I will take some more time and read what this is all about.

You didn't see me complaining, nor many others. Let's not generalize here.

Agreed.

The in-game shots look amazing, especially since that old "mudcrabs" screenshot.

One thing, tho', VD. Your concept artist sure packed a lot of bloom/steam on that landscape pic :D

post-apocalyptic
How is this in anyway post-apocalyptic?

In terms of setting looks more like Oblivion to me.

In terms of character it reeks of Fallout though. Saw the combat draft and the game looks gorgeous.

I was perfectly content with graphics when half life 2 came out. That's exactly how I want them. At this point it's like *nervous laugh* okay you guys can stop now.

My thoughts exactly. I did raise this question earlier and it was pointed out to me that if a world has been affected by a holocaust, then the aftermath of that would be a post-apocalyptic environment. It doesn't matter if the world is fictional or not.
