hiya everyone,
Ive read a lot of the posts and I think all of the ones about ppl's thoughts of the demo. I agree with A LOT of them. I feared that Tactics would prove disappointing, knowingly because its not really a RPG. But I still had hope, at least that it would have a lot of RPG elements, after all that is what they said it would be... Anyway, firstly i had to get latest sound drivers cause the game wouldnt start and as a result the comp would crash but i got over that. Then, i thought the tutorials were quite alright, some being a little too straight forward though but im not new to Fallout. I totally agree with the fact that the cursor and how you could hold the button and get lots of options on what to do with things (look, use etc) is screwed up now, that was really convient and useful. As much as this wasnt supposed to be a RPG I really didnt want another baldurs gate type game. But thats what i got. And i do agree with someone saying that it has turned into a clickfest cause you have to control so many factors in 6 ppl. In fact, what i found myself doing a lot of the time was using just one of the guys, particularly the sniper and clearing areas with him before everyone moved along. I found the controlling too difficult.
Since ppl are complaining about the graphics ill say what i can about that as well. My monitor failed on me and as a result im playing on a P2 366 notebook, with a 8mb card. I bet this actually creates a worse impression of the game on me cause it gets slow and laggy and well just not nice. (Cool notebook tho, it even has 128mb ram). What the notebook does though is that all the games on it, unless totally very lo-res and 2d look grainy, therefore the graphics for me look just like F1 and 2. But i can just imagine how "clean" it will be on my tbird 900 geforce 2 etc... well anyway, the game and what it is actually meant to be isnt bad at all, but its not to much of my game, ill still get it cause its simply fallout, thats enuff for me. Bottom line is i dont like it too much and it didnt meet a lot of my expectations, and i sincerely hope it plays NO i stress NO impact on what Fallout 3 is gonna be. In fact i'd be happy if they came out with Fallout 3 with everything exactly the same as F2 but with new content. I really think thats what a lot of us actually want. Anyway, as a game without linking it to any other games its alright, but prob is its supposed to be great since it bears the Fallout title. Oh well...
